When people ask me why I like working at Accenture, I have a long list.
Throughout my long and wide-ranging consulting career, I’ve been supported. From taking time off to earn my MBA, to working in both Technology and Management Consulting practices, I learn something new every day.
I joined Accenture in 2010 directly after college and started in the Technology Consulting practice. During that time, I worked on a variety of projects with an emphasis on SAP implementations. I took two years off to pursue an MBA and returned in 2016 in our Management Consulting practice. I’ve been involved in SAP implementations, zero-based budgeting projects and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) projects during my return, with an emphasis on finance-related processes.
Now, I get the chance to give back, mentoring schoolchildren in my home city of Detroit, Michigan. I not only help to shape the futures of big brands—I’m helping to shape the futures of young people in my community.
Pioneering solutions for the biggest brands I’m currently working in the CFO and Enterprise Value practice , which means I assess where value can be captured in an organization, and I help CFOs achieve their goals.
I’ve worked on a huge breadth of projects for some of the world’s biggest brands. My first M&A project involved supporting the post-transaction activities and strategy for two iconic food and coffee brands. It was an incredible learning experience, and that’s been par for the course in everything I’ve worked on at Accenture.
As market leaders in data-driven consulting, we use data and analytics to answer our client’s strategic questions and describe, visualize, predict and prescribe technological solutions for the future in ways that no one has been able to do before. Analytics links business objectives to tactical actions.
In my work and through the unrivaled learning and development opportunities at Accenture, I’ve grown my knowledge of analytics and the capabilities of new platform digital tools such as SAP S/4HANA and Hybrid. This knowledge helps me make the best decisions for my clients.
Giving back to my community
People have mentored me throughout my career. Now, I’m doing the same, mentoring schoolchildren aged 12 to 14 in my hometown of Detroit. The city is very close to my heart and I want to revitalize it, help pump up the economy.
As you move into your teenage years, you start to formulate your thoughts and decide which direction you’re going to take as an adult. It’s a defining age. I come from a family of educators and received lots of guidance and support—not everyone has that. I’m proud to be part of the mentorship program.
I think it’s important to look beyond yourself and find ways to make a difference in the world. I’m proof that at Accenture, you can do just that.
Build your own career path and do work that makes a difference.
