Accenture and Tech:NYC’s annual survey on New York City talent trends finds business leaders are hiring and looking to the local workforce to fill their talent gaps. The survey of 350 C-level executives – all based in New York City and working across various industries – finds that a majority (83%) continue to grow their workforce in 2023 and are actively hiring.
Highlights of the report include:
Tech talent is top of mind for New York companies looking to hire – with more than half (59%) planning to increase the number of tech talent in 2023.
Nearly all survey respondents (99%) are confident their organization will be able to secure the tech skills they need in 2023 from the talent pool in New York City.
The top three most in-demand tech skills business leaders are looking for are cloud (78%), security (77%) and AI (75%). They also expect the most difficulty in hiring talent with expertise in these areas.
Although not actioned by many, business leaders say changes to degree requirements (23%) have become an important talent consideration for companies.

Eight out of ten companies say their growth agenda has changed since the start of the pandemic. Accenture and Aon cofounded the Chicago Apprenticeship Network–partnering with employers like McDonald’s, Zurich Insurance and Walgreens to jump start their professional apprenticeship programs. Today, the network has 70+ member organizations and has well exceeded its initial goal to create 1,000+ apprenticeships. In collaboration with Aon, the Chicago Apprentice Network and the Business Roundtable, we launched an apprenticeship playbook which focuses on the key steps, considerations and case studies for apprenticeships in professional positions.
