"My work focuses on algorithmic fairness—an important area, as applications of AI have direct implications on human lives."
As an Analytics Lead in Applied Intelligence, my work over the past few years has focused on algorithmic fairness—the intersection of data science with other science areas, such as social, ethics and legal. It has become quite an important area as applications of artificial intelligence (AI) become more widespread and have direct implications on human lives.
For a recent engagement with Allied Irish Banks (AIB), we worked on-site to quantitatively assess two models for potential bias, tackling the issue of algorithm fairness. It was a great learning experience for my whole team as we worked to understand the challenges of applying state-of-the-art fairness metrics and bias mitigation algorithms in a real industry setting.
My team was led by Managing Director Medb Corcoran and included Innovation Lead Billy Delaney, who helped lead the client through the innovation process, and Analytics Innovation Analyst Andreea-Roxana Miu, who focused on data analysis.

My day-to-day life at Accenture is quite varied, depending on the phase of the project I’m working on. As a project kicks off, I spend my days researching and attending team meetings. In the exploration and build project phases, I focus on writing code, making sense of results, sharing outputs with the team and brainstorming solutions to problems.
I work at The Dock, our flagship R&D and global innovation center in Dublin, which offers a huge variety of hands-on learning and development opportunities. I work in multidisciplinary teams and interact daily with designers and software engineers, and I am constantly learning from my bright colleagues.
In my spare time, you’ll find me exploring the outdoors with my husband and my two girls, or attending cultural events, from theater and dance shows to music festivals.
