"We helped DuPont quickly establish an independent IT system and migrate to the Microsoft Azure Cloud."
How I put change in motion
I’m a Senior Manager in Digital Manufacturing & Operations in Technology, leading a team that migrates manufacturing quality systems from one company to another without disrupting underlying work processes. We do our best to ensure that all changes occur behind the scenes, so system users can continue to do their jobs uninterrupted.
Recently, global chemical giant DowDuPont separated into three independent entities: Corteva, Dow and DuPont. We collaborated with Avanade—a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft—and DuPont to help them quickly establish their own independent IT system and migrate to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. The biggest challenge was to ensure that the full, end-to-end migration happened with minimal downtime.
We successfully ensured that all the required IT infrastructure, systems, data and users were migrated to a newer, state-of-the-art Azure platform that will allow DuPont to grow faster and remain compliant with global quality standards.
My team included Managing Director Adam Cooper, who enabled our team to bring their technical expertise and creativity to the tasks at hand; Software Developer Manager Robert Jones, who helped manage laboratory data; Management Consultant Michael Niemann, who focused on strategy and documentation; and Managing Director Derek Ong, who led a team responsible for migrating 500 applications from Dow to DuPont.
I was truly amazed how our cross-functional teams came together, addressed the constraints and implemented the best solution. We removed our role and organizational “hats” and worked together as a team to solve the problem.

There is no mundane day at Accenture—that makes it exciting to wake up and start my workday.
Here’s a look at what a “typical” day might include:
Start my day with fresh cup of coffee (rain or shine).
Catch up on emails, prioritizing those from clients first.
Daily sync-up with my team to discuss the day’s work plan.
Discuss key activities and priorities for the week (or month, for critical events).
Remember work-life balance by focusing on a personal interest after my workday ends, like walking, reading, cooking or taking a long drive.

Successful delivery involves more than just technology. It’s vital to remember the human factor and focus on collaboration with your Accenture ecosystem teams as well as the client team. Celebrate every small success, as they lead to the overall program success, and remember to appreciate and thank your team members frequently.
