Partnering for progress

A large US university medical center teamed up with Accenture on three fronts:

1. To deploy Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll and Financials to unify its systems
2. To deploy Workday Student to centralize recruitment, eliminate manual processes, and improve reporting capabilities
3. To move its supply chain to Workday

When the pandemic struck, Accenture and Workday worked to add new reports in real time to support the medical center’s supply chain needs during the crisis.

Securing supplies in a crisis

Workday Student and Supply Chain were launched on schedule. With Workday Supply Chain, patient overpayments that were previously reviewed and paid back in several weeks, are now processed in 24 hours. During the pandemic, the system enabled urgent supplies such as PPE, ventilators, gowns, and gloves to be ordered automatically before stocks diminished.

When Workday Registration went live, it took the medical center just ten minutes to create a report on live registrations—something the team had never had oversight of before. Additionally, historical student records were loaded with 100% accuracy on the first try, due to Accenture’s proprietary data conversion tool.

The medical center has gained greater flexibility over daily operations and is now closer to a universal solution that befits the future of a world class medical institution.
