The Security Assessor will be vital in identifying and prioritizing vulnerabilities for applications and subcontractors that interact with AFS data and will work closely with data owners to identify mitigations. The Security Assessor will be responsible for routine reviews of the security posture for new and existing suppliers, and related applications hosted internally and in the cloud. The Assessor will be responsible for reviewing submitted security assessment requests, facilitiating kick off meetings and documentation requests, and reviewing responses to identify risks. The Security Assessor will conduct verification and validation of security policy compliance based on Organizational defined policies and standards, provide identification of noncompliance and provide recommended mitigations. The Security Assessor will create assessment reports, review the report and any vulnerabilities with the data owners and track mitigation actions to closure.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

1. Review responses to security assessment questionnaires and confirm next steps

2. Review third party provided documentation against internally defined policies and standards and identify risks

3. Prioritize identified vulnerabilities based on security risk and recommend remediation actions

4. Plan, design and execute automated and manual web application security tests as needed.

5. Clearly communicate the risks both in a written report and verbal conversation

4. Track remediation actions to closure

5. Collaborate with other teams to collect information and deliver assessment results and recommendations

7. Organize and maintain multiple assessments simultaneously

The Security Assessment Specialist is expected to work independently, delivering timely solutions without direct supervision yet understanding when to seek the advice and approval of superiors and/or other specialists.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with security vulnerability identification

  • Bachelor's Degree or 7+ years of experience with security vulnerability identification in lieu of a degree

  • 2+ years of experience reviewing policies and standards and determining compliance

  • 2+ years of experience with identifying and prioritizing security vulnerabilities


An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
