Job Description:

The Release Associate Manager ensures that operational and application release deliverables adhere to required standards and manage project and service request interdependencies to ensure release delivery and integrity. They work with individuals and teams from development through to implementation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages release review, and responsible for, the overall development and integration of requirements
  • Manages risks and assist in resolving issues that affect release scope, quality, schedule, budget, and resources
  • Measures and monitors progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Obtains buy-in from senior management for all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, and scope changes
  • Manage relationships and coordinates work between different teams at different locations
  • Defines team member roles and expectations, and ensures timely feedback
  • Ensures that project resources receive any necessary training and are used effectively
  • Makes sure all work efforts follow the release work plan and address the proscribed release requirements and, where changes are necessary, the change process is followed appropriately
  • Continually work to improve the release managment process, including working with client and team leads to review pain points and discuss alternative processes
  • Measures, monitors, and communicates the application release status to the appropriate audience and escalating risks and issues as needed
  • Manage project and service request interdependencies
  • Make sure multiple problems and service requests are implemented simultaneously to control the impact of change upon production and development environments
  • Improves productivity by combining related problems, functional or technical requirements, and service requests to avoid duplicate processing and testing of affected configuration items

  • Negotiates, plans, and coordinates the release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third-party applications, or operating system updates; proactively manage project financials


  • Serves as primary architect for system releases including past, present and future releases, creating and growing an efficient product release process

  • Works with individuals and teams from development through to implementation

  • Establishes the framework for all release deployment activities; develops a release schedule for release packaging or deployment activities and checkpoints

  • Makes sure all problems and service requests are routed to the domain by the service management team, and identify candidates for inclusion within release

  • Confirms that the initial scope of the release, including determination of the release priority (relative to other work being performed by the domain), is clearly defined

  • Develops and/or reviews estimates and estimating assumptions for the project's schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience

  • Confirms that the application release project is properly staffed, other resources are available and reserved, processes and standards are up-to-date, and the team is oriented and trained on their release roles and responsibilities

Cross Functional Services:

  • Individuals may be called upon to provide additional service assurance functions in support of operational run

  • Services could include ad hoc data reporting, data visualization, Problem Management and root cause analysis, process management and improvement

Role Requirements:

  • This role will have an on-call rotational component
  • On a rotating basis, this role will act as the Major Incident Communications Lead
  • The Major Incident Communications Lead is responsible for meeting all communication timelines as documented in the Client provided IT Delivery Incident Communication process
  • Major Incident Communications Lead will be engaged and actively listening on the incident bridge during all major Incidents
  • They will blog the conversation, working theories, and next steps related to an Incident into the appropriate tool
  • The communication lead will document the Post Incident Review information once service is restored and validated

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of IT release or IT change management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of team management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ITIL Certified

  • IT Service Management

  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills
