The Data Scientist will enjoy working in fast paced environment with large-scale mission critical data, latest machine learning technologies, and the ability to turn ideas into actionable products for homeland security. Individuals in this role are expected to be working directly with customers, have passion for solving complex problem sets, work independently and collaboratively with team members experienced with Agile methodology.


(i)    Work closely with data scientists and engineers to solve problem sets and answer important business questions;

(ii)   Perform exploratory data analysis to build predictive models for risk management;

(iii)  Evaluate and define modeling metrics and performance measures;

(iv)  Develop algorithms working in R language primarily, sometimes SAS, SPSS or MATLAB;

(v)   Influence project teams through data analysis, experimentation results and presentations;

(vi)  Apply Agile methodology best practices to perform quantitative analysis, data mining, establish large-scale information retrieval systems and recommender applications



Basic Qualification:

  • 1 year knowledge of building machine learning models, performing quantiative analysis
  • Experience with SQL or other similar programming languages
  • Experience with R language, SAS, SPSS or Stata
  • Experience with hands-on research and development of machine learning algorithms
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, experience with open source programming tools and languages
  • Experience with statistical inference, machine learning techniques and methods to address sparse data
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Hadoop and Spark
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or similar technical discipline
  • Experience with Python & Java preferred
  • Strong ability to communicate results in clear and effective manner

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
