Job Description
The Media Relations Manager will support the integrated global media relations efforts for Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics. This person will report to the Accenture Digital media lead and Accenture Analytics media lead. The role is part of Accenture’s global Marketing & Communications team that supports its four business areas, five operating groups, and geographies.
This individual is responsible for: (a) improving the focus, quality and frequency of media coverage; (b) strengthening Accenture’s approach to managing its interaction with the media; (c) ensuring that media relations initiatives are consistent with strategic business objectives; (d) developing and disseminating messages and executing media programs that leverage synergies across other areas of the business and operating groups; (e) improving Accenture’s external profile aligned to the core offerings of Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics; (f) form strong relationships with business stakeholders, including a command of the relevant subject matter.
The manager must be able to interpret strategic direction and vision communicated by Accenture Digital and Accenture Anaytics leadership to identify media objectives and established clear metrics for the fiscal year.  They will be tasked to conceive and execute strategic communications campaigns designed to educate and condition the market for opportunities that help to drive Accenture’s business, while forming close relationships and collaborating with the integrated Accenture Digital marketing teams and Corporate Communications colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage relationships with key reporters and influencers in relevant markets/geographies served by Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics including business, technology and digital editorial beats.
  • Coordinate with Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics marketing leads and relevant business executives to develop media strategies, content and appropriate tactics designed to generate maximum media impact in support of the business’ growth strategies, objectives, and marketplace positioning.
  • Manage the development and application of Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics marketing teams’ messages, as well as major Accenture marketing initiatives, best client engagements and the expertise of Accenture’s senior management, and tailor appropriately for media.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications on situations or circumstances that could result in negative media coverage.
  • Identify parties who need to be involved either directly or indirectly on media opportunities and activities (e.g., cross-businesses or cross-OGs, local geographies, capability groups, etc.)
  • Manage agency and internal resources in support of media relations activities.
  • Write and edit news releases, working closely with relevant marketing leads, client engagement teams and other senior executives, client contacts, alliance partners, and others as appropriate.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in media relations and communications for others inside Accenture.
  • Form a cohesive unit with the other Accenture Digital media leads. Team with business, operating group, and geographic media team peers, as needed.
  • Share content and information with media team peers to drive stories into the geographies and local marketplace, leverage use of core materials and ensure consistency of messages.
  • Brief relevant senior executives and media team members on media issues related to key business areas within Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics.
  • Tailor corporate messages, as appropriate, to Accenture Digital and Accenture Analytics.
  • Coach/train designated senior spokespersons and others representing the company externally on effective interactions with the media.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or other four-year university degree
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in media relations/corporate communications (corporate or agency experience preferred)
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience analyzing, disseminating and communication complex information and developing clear "media-ready" messages
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.  Superior writing capabilities are essential.
  • Proven ability to quickly and concisely draft a wide range of clear, concise and high-quality media materials including news releases, media Q&As, media pitch letters, bylined articles, op-eds, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of media relations process in general and Accenture’s media relations policies, including public disclosure requirements and restrictions.
  • Social media (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+) familiarity and skills required
  • Broad understanding and skills in strategic marketing and communications, especially in area of specialization or crossing more than one functional/technical area.
  • Ability to interact and work closely with media contacts representing clients, alliance partners, third-party organizations, vendors, and others.
  • Broad knowledge of key issues and trends in and affecting the technology and marketing services industries.
  • Strong project management, budget management and financial reporting skills.

  • Passion for executing deliverables and programs that are of the highest quality, fully support Accenture’s business strategy and are in line with or exceed leadership expectations.

  • Ability to influence the highest levels of leadership within Accenture’s large, matrixed organization through effective navigation, relationship-building and strong executive-level presence.
  • Strong teaming skills—ability to work autonomously and independently, yet integrate appropriately with Marketing & Communications colleagues across other businesses, operating groups, geographies, capabilities groups, Corporate Communications.
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
