Job Description

Utility Industry Applications professionals analyze, design, build, test and deploy innovative utility industry emergency management and response solutions that enable utilities to prepare for, mitigate the effects of, respond to, and recover from all-hazard emergencies.

A professional at this position level within Accenture has the following responsibilities:

  • Adapts existing methods and procedures to create alternative solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Understands the strategic direction set by senior management as it relates to client and project goals.
  • Uses considerable judgment to develop client solutions and seeks guidance on complex problems.
  • Learns and develops methodologies and related tools to support client emergency preparedness. 
  • Learns new client systems quickly, e.g., work environments, core work processes, and culture and understands emergency management concepts.
  • Primary upward interaction is with direct supervisor.
  • Interacts with peers and/or management levels at a client and/or within Accenture.
  • Develops effective working relationships with clients and staff.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with guidance.
  • Manages small teams and/or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) at a client or within Accenture.

R    Responsibilities include: 

  • Act as an emergency management and response subject matter expert (SME) for emergency preparedness and response in the electric and gas utility industry.
  • Support emergency management, preparedness, planning, response, and recovery consulting engagements in utility industry clients.
  • Develop all-hazard (i.e wildfires, natural disaster, cyber security, gas explosion, etc.) emergency response plans, which would include overall company strategies, tactics, and response practices across gas and electric utility commodities.
  • Support and facilitate functional and table top exercises to meet client business objectives.
  • Support implementation of the Incident Command System (ICS) across electric and gas utilities, including development of role and responsibility descriptions and checklists.
  • Design and facilitate training that teaches clients how to effectively use plans and role descriptions to respond to major emergencies and disasters.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 plus years of workplace emergency management (any industry)
  • 2 plus years of Gas & Electric Utility experience preferred
  • 2 plus years of Process Design experience
  • 2 years consulting experience preferred

    • Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment 
    • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment to meet business objectives
    • Desire to work in an information systems environment 
    • Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

    Consultant will provide on site support 2 weeks per month and off site support 1 to 2 additional weeks per month in the areas of functional exercise development and execution Incident Command System implementation across gas and electric utilities and hazard response plan development.
