What I do

I manage the European Business Operations team, and within that team, we are focused on all areas of our business. The four pillars my team is responsible for include:

  1. Intelligent operations. This is the journey that we take our clients on to make sure that they get the most value out of the contracts that we can provide them.
  2. Risk and compliance. We interface with the global risk and compliance team, managing against regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), along with a Security Champions program.
  3. People engagement. We make sure the engagement scores continue to remain high and understand what is driving attrition.
  4. Costs. It’s imperative to understand financials and what’s driving the most effective cost-saving activities, making sure all our accounts are as effective as they can be.

A day in my life

Accenture has such a broad depth and breadth of things that we do, that there is always something new and emerging to become involved in if you choose to.

The most exciting project I’ve worked on is the journey into intelligent operations. It really helps us demonstrate the value to the clients. The mindset of the journey is that we should always be curious and innovative and always push the envelope. You're introducing new concepts and challenging the status quo as you go along.

The thing I like most about working at Accenture is the people. People are what makes us want to stay in an organization. There's variety and diversity. Everyone is striving for high performance and has a willingness to help and support.

I'm also a supporter of our gap-year graduate program, so I spend a lot of time career counseling or mentoring graduates. We are hiring diverse people with creative backgrounds, who have a lot to offer and a different mindset.

My advice

Aim high and don't limit yourself to what you think your role should be. Challenge the value you can add, and the mindset and opinions you may have. You will surprise yourself with what you can achieve if you are not constrained by the way things have always been done.
