About the Role

As a Utilities Strategy Consultant, you will support and lead workstreams across utilities strategy engagements. You will help clients define investment priorities, develop transformation business cases, design operating models, build capability roadmaps, and translate complex industry challenges into practical recommendations.

You will work across topics such as grid modernization, intelligent asset management, energy retail, smart metering, enterprise asset management, digital utility platforms, renewables, storage, and broader energy transition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop business cases, investment narratives, value cases, and benefits-realization models for utilities transformation initiatives.
  • Conduct structured analysis, market research, competitor benchmarking, and financial modeling to support client recommendations.
  • Apply hypothesis-led problem solving to ambiguous client challenges, breaking complex topics into clear workplans, analyses, and decision points.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations, reports, and storylines for senior client stakeholders.
  • Support strategy engagements across grid modernization, Network of the Future, asset management transformation, retail & customer transformation, smart metering & Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI), energy transition initiatives, and operating model and capability design.
  • Translate industry trends, technology developments, and regulatory considerations into practical client implications.
  • Facilitate client workshops, capture requirements, synthesize stakeholder input, and convert findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Contribute to proposals, credentials, points of view, and internal practice-building initiatives.

Core Skills and Experience Required:

We are looking for candidates who bring strong consulting fundamentals and the ability to operate effectively in complex client environments.

You should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Business case development, including investment logic, cost-benefit analysis, value driver definition, and benefits tracking.
  • Quantitative analysis and financial modeling, with strong Excel capability.
  • Structured problem solving, including issue trees, hypothesis development, workplanning, synthesis, and recommendation formulation.
  • Market, competitor, and sector research, with the ability to translate findings into clear strategic insights.
  • Executive-ready written and visual communication, including PowerPoint storylining and concise report writing.
  • Stakeholder management, workshop support, and collaboration with consulting teams and client counterparts.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and ability to manage multiple workstreams or deliverables concurrently.
  • Typically 3–6 years of relevant experience in consulting, strategy, corporate development, energy, infrastructure, transformation, or a related field.
