HPC & InSilico R&D developer

Tech Innovation Strategy Analyst | Early Career | Full time
Job No. R00344171 | Madrid
Apply for this job

At Next Gen Compute we tackle some of the most complex business problems precisely where emerging technology makes the difference: artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), and quantum computing applied to real-world use cases.

We are looking for an Analyst/Consultant who not only understands these technologies, but knows how to turn an ambiguous business challenge into a tangible, measurable, high-impact computational solution. This is not a mechanical execution role: it is a role to build new capabilities, prototype fast, and demonstrate value where no clear answer existed before.

You will work directly with the team at the frontier between computational science and technology strategy, with a special —though not exclusive— focus on Life Sciences: drug discovery, computational biology, and computational chemistry.

Responsibilities

Use cases & applied development

  • Translate business challenges into applied AI and HPC solutions, from conceptualization to proof of concept (PoC) and pilot.
  • Design, prototype, and validate end-to-end use cases, prioritizing usable outcomes and short iteration cycles.
  • Adapt and evaluate emerging models and frameworks (GenAI, foundation models, GPU acceleration) to each client's context and constraints.

Delivery & collaboration

  • Take part in the full project lifecycle: problem analysis, solution design, implementation, and communication of results.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (client, business, data engineering, domain scientists), translating complex technical work into actionable recommendations.
  • Document rigorously, ensuring reproducibility and quality across every deliverable.

Technology exploration

  • Monitor trends in AI, HPC, and quantum computing, and identify application opportunities and new offerings.
  • Contribute to reusable assets, accelerators, and thought-leadership material that position the team at the technology frontier.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.
  • 1 to 6 years of experience (Analyst–Consultant range) in data science, AI, or applied technologies; experience in R&D or consulting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python for analysis (Jupyter) and solid data-engineering practices.
  • Hands-on Linux/shell (Bash) proficiency and comfort working in command-line environments.
  • HPC cluster management and workload orchestration: SLURM (job scheduling, batch/array jobs, resource allocation), environment modules (Lmod), and containerized workloads (Singularity/Apptainer, Docker).
  • Familiarity with HPC infrastructure and parallel computing: GPU computing (CUDA), MPI, job scaling, and ML/DL model deployment on clusters.
  • A plus: notions of quantum computing and knowledge of bioinformatics, biochemistry, or computational chemistry.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, structure complex problems, and deliver results autonomously.
  • Clear communication with both technical and business audiences; professional English (the team is global).
  • Curiosity, a continuous-improvement mindset, and orientation toward real impact.
