Contract Manager
As a Contract Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure and data centre projects by managing the commercial and contractual aspects of complex construction contracts. Working closely with project teams, procurement, legal, contractors, and suppliers, you will ensure contractual compliance, mitigate commercial risk, and support the delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of construction and infrastructure contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and applicable legislation.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned projects, providing contractual advice and support to internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project teams to support successful project delivery.
- Support procurement activities by providing commercial and contractual input during tendering, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, and contract award.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and administer construction contracts, framework agreements, work orders, and call-off agreements.
- Lead the commercial management of contracts, including variations, change orders, compensation events, claims, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.
- Identify, assess, and manage contractual and commercial risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements and ensure commercial obligations are delivered in line with project objectives.
- Support project controls by monitoring commercial performance, project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and cost reporting.
- Ensure all contractual documentation, notices, correspondence, and commercial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company governance.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement, Commercial, Legal, Project Management, and Cost Management teams to ensure consistent contract administration and commercial best practice.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial performance, contract processes, and supply chain efficiency across infrastructure and data centre projects.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, compliance, integrity, and health and safety across all commercial activities.
- Demonstrable experience in Contract Management within large-scale infrastructure, mission-critical facilities, or data centre construction projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience administering complex construction contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proven expertise in contract change management, claims management, variations, commercial negotiations, and dispute avoidance.
- Strong understanding of construction contract forms such as NEC and/or FIDIC. Experience with EPC, EPCM or Design & Build contracts is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of commercial governance, procurement principles, and contract risk management within major capital projects.
- Commercially astute, with experience supporting project cost management, forecasting, financial reporting, and budget control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Fluent English is essential. German language skills are advantageous but not essential.
