Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by actively monitoring and investigating issues across various components of essential business systems. This role requires a dynamic approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behaviors, and ensuring continuous service availability. The position demands collaboration with different teams to maintain system integrity and support critical operations, contributing to the smooth functioning of business processes through timely issue resolution and proactive system oversight.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain DNS (Domain Name System) services, including zone creation, record management, troubleshooting, and replication.
Administer DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) services, including scope creation, reservations, failover configuration, and IP address management.
Perform routine system health checks and infrastructure monitoring.
Troubleshoot network connectivity, name resolution, and authentication issues.
Configure and maintain network services such as NTP, SMTP relays, VPNs, and proxy services.
Handle incident, problem, and change management activities as per ITIL practices.
Coordinate with application, network, and security teams for issue resolution.
Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and asset inventories.
Perform security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance-related activities.
Monitor system logs and proactively identify infrastructure issues.
Upgrade software and hardware replacement.
Daily Activities:
Resolve infrastructure tickets and service requests.
Monitor server, DNS, DHCP, and network health.
Implement approved changes and maintenance activities.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Generate operational and compliance reports.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Network Operations & Service Management.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure components and service management frameworks.
- Experience in incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis within IT operations.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of service disruptions.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and techniques to detect and diagnose system issues.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical teams and stakeholders.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in Network Operations & Service Management.
- This position is based at our Kolkata office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
