Summary:
As a Data Modeler, a typical day involves engaging closely with various stakeholders including business representatives, data owners, end users, application designers, and data architects. The role focuses on understanding existing data structures and collaborating to design new data models that align with business needs and technical requirements. This position requires continuous interaction and coordination to ensure that data models are accurate, efficient, and support the organization's objectives effectively.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Design and develop formal ontologies, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies using OWL, RDFS, and SKOS.
- Elicit and model domain knowledge through structured interviews and workshops with subject-matter experts.
- Integrate ontologies with knowledge graph infrastructure (e.g. Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, Stardog) and validate consistency using reasoners such as HermiT or Pellet.
- Write and maintain SPARQL queries and SHACL/ShEx constraints to validate data conformance.
- Align internal models with industry standards and open standards such as schema.org, Dublin Core, or domain-specific vocabularies.
- Establish versioning, documentation, and governance practices for ontology lifecycle management.
- Support downstream AI/ML teams by providing semantically enriched data for entity resolution, recommendation, and question-answering systems.
- Required qualifications
- Degree in computer science, information science, linguistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Hands-on experience with OWL 2, RDF, RDFS, and SKOS
- Proficiency with Prot g or equivalent ontology authoring tools
- Strong understanding of description logics and formal semantics
- Scripting ability in Python for ontology processing and ETL tasks
- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Lead efforts to align data modeling practices with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team to enhance overall capabilities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data models into applications and systems.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Graph Databases.
- Good To Have Skills: Experience with Neo4j.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and methodologies specific to graph database technologies.
- Ability to design scalable and efficient data models that support complex relationships and queries.
- Experience in collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into data structures.
- Familiarity with query languages and tools used in graph databases to validate and optimize data models.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in Graph Databases.
- This position is based at our Bhubaneswar office.
Education:
