What would you do? The responsible will drive the full lifecycle of policy and standards re-write, structuring, and modernization of policy and procedural documents. This role requires exceptional technical writing expertise, deep asset/utility domain knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to work with senior business stakeholders to define what “good” looks like in modern policy architecture. The lead will also oversee AI-enabled harmonization, document governance, and future-state digital management. • Bachelor s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Technical Writing, or related field. • Certifications in Technical Writing, Knowledge Management, Asset Management (IAM), or Process Excellence are desirable. • Experience with regulatory environments (Ofgem, RIIO, utility compliance). • Prior work in electricity networks (distribution/transmission). • Exposure to document management systems (SharePoint, Confluence). • Experience leading analysts/writers or managing offshore production teams. • Lean/Agile delivery mindset with focus on efficiency and standardization.
What are we looking for? •• 10+ years in technical writing, policy/standards creation, asset management, or utility engineering. • Strong experience re-writing policies, SOPs, technical standards, or engineering governance documents. • Deep understanding of asset classes (transformers, OHL, substations, protection, cables, switching operations). • Expertise in document architecture, content structuring, taxonomy design, metadata tagging. • Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/ENA standards and utility operational policies. • Proven stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills. • Strong command of English writing, editing, and technical documentation best practices. • Experience with AI tools • Ability to lead multiple workstreams and manage review cycles at volume and pace. •• Exceptional communication and articulation skills. • High attention to detail and analytical thinking. • Stakeholder confidence-building and relationship management. • Ability to simplify complex engineering topics into clear documentation. • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-coordination capabilities. • Proactive problem-solving and bias for action. • High ownership, integrity, and decision-making maturity
Roles and Responsibilities: •• Lead the review, re-write, consolidation, and restructuring of existing policy and procedural documents. • Categorize documents into clear asset-class structures (e.g., transformers, OHL, cables, switchgear, substations). • Benchmark against industry standards (IEC, ENA, ISO, OEM standards) to define high-quality policy formats. • Develop Standard Technique Documents (generic/asset-aligned) and client specific documents (site & procedural details). • Establish document hierarchy, taxonomy, metadata, versioning, and governance structures. • Ensure future-state readiness for management in a centralized digital content system or knowledge repository. • Use AI to identify inconsistencies across policy documents. • Ensure field operations and adoption teams can work with standardized, compliant documentation. • Work closely with client SMEs, engineering policy owners, asset managers, and governance teams. • Present structure proposals, re-write methodology, and progress updates to senior client leadership. • Manage and mentor a small team of analysts and writers; oversee workloads, quality checks, and delivery milestones. • Drive continuous improvement, process redesign, and efficiency gains through automation, templates, and tools. •
