Database Administrator (Oracle)
About the Role
The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise database systems across the Asia Pacific region. This role focuses on ensuring high performance, security, and reliability of primarily Oracle databases, while supporting a diverse range of database technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain database systems across multiple platforms, ensuring optimal performance and stability
Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing tuning strategies
Implement and maintain database security controls to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality
Develop, execute, and regularly test backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, providing timely and effective technical support
Manage and support cross-platform database integration, data migration, and synchronization initiatives
Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, processes, and compliance requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system enhancements and modernization initiatives
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator managing multiple database technologies
Strong knowledge of database concepts, design principles, and administration practices
Hands-on experience with SQL, scripting, and database management tools
Experience managing cloud-based or hybrid database environments
Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux, UNIX, and Windows
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2
Certified PostgreSQL DBA or MySQL DBA
Experience with automation, infrastructure-as-code, or DevOps practices
