Engineering solutions
Throughout the past two decades, I’ve built a successful career focusing on work in the utilities industry, harnessing the power of SAP. I’ve worked extensively with clients in the energy, utilities, chemicals and natural resources industries.
Currently, I am working with one of the largest utility companies in North America on their customer-experience transformation journey. Through numerous design-thinking sessions with the client, we’re combining their legacy historical data and applying artificial intelligence and machine-learning solutions to personalize the customers’ end experience.
I worked on another impactful project, where the power of Accenture’s large ecosystem helped a client in Malaysia upgrade their IT systems. A three-day workshop with industry experts at our Singapore Innovation Hub and our deep knowledge of industry and design expertise totally transformed their perception and their approach to doing business.
There’s never been a better time to work in these high-demand and interconnected areas of work. From skills in cloud-based systems like SAP, Microsoft, Oracle to engineering and architecting solutions using the latest technologies in AI, the opportunities are endless.
Mentoring for success
Being able to bring your whole self to work is vital to success. My most memorable experience at Accenture happened many years back. I had my two kids just two years apart and was finding my feet back at work after maternity leave. At that time, a senior managing director, who was not even my supervisor, sat me down to help draw out my career-growth path.
She invested in me by helping me find the right roles, the right clients and providing timely coaching. It really helped change the trajectory of my career, and I take every opportunity to mentor others and pay it forward.
And as a lead on the core team for inclusion and diversity in India, I help ensure an inclusive work experience and environment, where each individual can be their authentic selves, and we continue to make equality a reality for our diverse teams.
3 keys to my career success
For me, building a strong, successful career is about building a strong brand for myself and being very intentional in what I want this brand to be.
There are three pillars to this:
- Be an expert. Build your expertise in an area and make the effort to continuously learn and grow.
- Embrace change. The way we do business in today’s world is continuously evolving. It’s vital to understand clients’ goals and be prepared to embrace change. Building relationships and bringing the power of the Accenture network to help guide our clients on a path to a successful future has been one of the most satisfying parts of my job.
