This IDC Vendor Profile – Accenture Federal Services – Providing AI Solutions to the Federal Government – examines and analyzes the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and solutions offered to federal agencies by Accenture Federal Services. Written by Adelaide O’Brien, IDC’s Digital Government Transformation Strategies analyst, the report is based on interviews with Accenture executives and clients, and a site visit to the AI Discovery Lab at the Accenture Federal Digital Studio.

As noted in the profile, “Accenture Federal Services' Applied Intelligence practice has more than 1,000 data scientists, statisticians, solution architects, engineers, and AI experts working directly with clients and other Accenture project teams supporting cloud-based delivery of advanced AI and data science solutions through its FedRAMPed platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering.” Accenture’s federal presence is part of the company’s global Applied Intelligence practice, which was recently named as a "leader" in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Artificial Intelligence Services 2019 Vendor Assessment (doc #US44514819 , April 2019).

Among the successful client outcomes highlighted in the profile, IDC noted that "[Accenture] developed an intelligent support solution using natural language processing and machine learning to read and comprehend millions of claims and automate the fraud detection process. The agency piloted the program in seven states, yielding an improvement of 20% more fraud detection over current manual methods, with 23,000 fraud cases filed in the first three months. All of the agency's beneficiaries benefitted, as claims processing time decreased by more than 10%."
