Job Summary

The Ventures & Acquisitions (“V&A”) Immigration Law Lead will be part of the Employment Law team which sits within the Legal Group. Employment Law is responsible and accountable for Accenture’s immigration compliance program and provides legal advice regarding immigration issues.  We work with counterparts and stakeholders in the Legal Group, Mobility, Human Resources, and client delivery areas to compliantly provide necessary immigration related services.  An immigration lawyer is an expert in immigration law as well as relevant employment related laws such as minimum wages and working requirements for visa holders. 

The V&A Immigration Law Lead will report to the Managing Director -- Global Immigration Law and, for approximately 50% of the role, will be responsible for immigration related due diligence for potential mergers and acquisitions, coordinating global reviews of immigration related issues relevant to a potential acquisition, advising deal teams and decisionmakers about potential acquisitions’ immigration usage and immigration compliance programs, and compiling various immigration metrics and distributing to stakeholders.  The V&A Immigration Law Lead must utilize their own expertise regarding immigration law in various countries, as well as leverage the knowledge of Accenture’s employment law and regional immigration lawyers, as well as work with outside counsel when needed.  The V&A portion of the role is global.

For approximately 50% of the role, the V&A Immigration Lead will also be responsible for supporting all immigration law needs for Mexico and multiple significant South American countries, which will include advice on immigration strategies and deployment models for travel requests into countries in which the Company does not have a local registered entity.

The manager must demonstrate leadership ability as well as have the business acumen to work with Accenture’s internal teams and senior leaders.

The role will:

  • Conduct Due Diligence and advise on immigration compliance for potential Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Advise on Post-Close and Integration related immigration strategies for Accenture acquired companies
  • Assure high quality compliance with relevant immigration laws in Mexico and relevant South American countries by providing immigration law support appropriate to needs, and integrating external support as required.
  • Monitor and interpret immigration regulatory changes for Mexico and relevant South American countries, advise on the impact to Accenture, and help devise and implement responsive policy/practice modifications.
  • Immigration law analysis pertaining to Accenture’s evaluation of potential business opportunities and travel in countries in which the company does not have a local registered entity. 
  • Make recommendations on, and escalate material immigration law issues to, the Managing Director – Employment Law and Immigration, the local Market Employment Law leads and other stakeholders.
  • Legal support in the event of an audit.
  • Coordinate immigration risk reviews in Mexico and South America as needed. Contribute to development of internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on legal and business issues around immigration compliance.
  • Assist with analysis and implementation for global immigration and other employment law projects, as necessary.
  • Foster seamless integration and teaming relationships with Mobility, Controllership, Finance, HR, tax, Mergers and Acquisitions, and other areas within Legal



Requisitos

Education:       University degree or equivalent higher education qualification

Legal education and applicable licensure

Work Experience: 

-- 5+ years advising/supporting high volume US immigration programs at a law firm or a large multinational corporation required.

-- 2+ years advising or supporting immigration matters for mergers and acquisitions preferred

-- Experience in global immigration preferred

Work Requirements: 

                                               

  • None – possible need to travel intermittently (less than 5% travel) 
  • Accenture supports flexible working arrangements

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Strong immigration law technical skills/expertise
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills
  • M&A/V&A knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across multi-disciplinary and distributed teams
  • Vendor management experience preferred
