Studio Production:
Works in collaboration with the AFS Digital Studio Video Production Specialist, AFS Digital Studio creative teams, Client Account teams, and production staff (as needed) to produce a variety of video products for digital distribution. Supports scripting; planning and filming of studio productions; video cameras, and audio mixers; set up and adjusts studio lighting equipment; adjust audio equipment including assorted lavalier, and shotgun microphones; film “B-roll” footage and interviews for edited videos; provide limited troubleshooting of video, audio and lighting equipment; perform routine equipment maintenance.
 
Field Production:
Execute pre-production and production planning activities; communicate technical information in non-technical terms; conduct field-based video production which may involve interacting with Client Account teams and Clients, operate portable video and audio equipment; transport and set up lighting and audio equipment as required; provide limited troubleshooting and maintenance of field production equipment.
 
Post-Production:
Plan and perform video post-production tasks which include proper media management of video footage after shoots, reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, video transcoding, rough-cuts, audio mixing, color correction, motion graphics and lower third titles, video compression for output, and final archive of video projects upon completion.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

Education and Training:

  • Any combination of education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
  • A typical qualifying background would include a bachelor’s degree in telecommunication, film or video production.
  • Must submit a reel/portfolio of work examples.

Experience:

  • Top candidates will have experience in video editing and competence in all areas of video production.

 Knowledge of:

  • Basic knowledge of professional video production procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology.
  • Studio video production with multi-camera filming.
  • Basic video lighting and cinematography.
  • Basic principles of analog and digital video capture.
  • Proper handling and troubleshooting of broadcast quality video production and post-production equipment.
  • Professional and DSLR video production equipment operation, including video cameras, audio recording equipment, video editing file compression, motion graphics title creation, lighting, and post-production equipment.
  • Intermediate level of standard software applications proficiency with an understanding of current video/photo formats, codecs, project-based file management, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Basic to intermediate experience using Adobe After Effects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of proper safety practices related to video production.

 Skill and Ability to:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of digital video cameras and video editing equipment.
  • Operate computers and relevant systems and software.
  • Creatively plan and translate abstract concepts into effective visual form.
  • Work with other technical and non-technical staff to organize and implement videotaping of promotional or other related projects.
  • Work with clients and talent to be comfortable in front of the camera.
  • Advise clients and staff on effective media communication practices.
  • Adapt video products to fit the needs of clients and target audience.
  • Explain various principles of video to clients.
  • Troubleshoot video production complications.
  • Lift and move equipment.
  • Perform basic repairs on video/photo equipment.
  • Research solutions and make technical decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Write and speak clearly, concisely and effectively.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
