It’s such a beautiful place. Edinburgh. My home. It’s easy to forget such things. It’s easy to forget the things that make us who we are. The simple things. Like that my parents are from Pakistan. Or that faith has its ups and downs. Or that others are much less fortunate than I am.
For me, that means there’s really two sides to my identity. I am the girl from Edinburgh, who lives a great life. And I’m a daughter of Pakistan, a country where the wealth divide is so stark.
It’s a juxtaposition that’s central to who I am. It’s why I believe so wholeheartedly in giving what you can. And even more so in appreciating what you’ve got.
