The Accenture Consulting Supply Chain group works with clients to develop and implement strategies that improve cost efficiency, increase business effectiveness, and create synergies and collaboration across companies. To help our clients achieve these improvements, we focus on optimising our client's supply chain by providing an updated strategy, operating model and processes.

 

The Supply Chain group covers all elements of core planning, logistics and warehouse offerings including:

Role Description

 

Accenture is seeking to recruit Supply Chain Consulting Manager with strong project management/consulting experience and a strong delivery history of fulfilment and/or supply chain logistics projects.

 

Total Logistics is part of the Supply Chain & Operations practice within Accenture UK Products Operating Group.  We help clients to deliver improvements to their supply chain performance in a range of areas, with particular focus on our core competencies in Physical Logistics:

  • Fulfilment network design and strategy
  • Automated warehouse design and implementation
  • Warehouse Management Systems – business process and functional specification
  • Warehouse optimisation and operational improvements

Our practice is experiencing high demand for its services and are looking to bolster its team with talented people with deep functional skills. Most of our work is within Europe, primarily in the retail and consumer goods sectors.

 

Successful applicants will spend most of their time leading delivery teams and are responsible for project activities e.g. facilitating workshops, coordinating and developing data driven analyses, and generation of high quality deliverables, which clients have come to expect. Additionally, these team members have a key role to play in supporting business development opportunities through the development of proposals, acting as subject matter experts and presenting in sales pitches to prospective clients.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Significant client exposure, including working closely with clients to develop strong working relationships and trust
  • Hands-on delivery and project management, being part of and managing small teams with responsibility for project deliverables and areas of work
  • Challenging roles involving analytical and creative thought, including design, development and implementation of solutions.
  • Analysing client data to identify trends and to support the analysis of improvement options
  • Developing strategy and logistics solutions for clients using processes and tools that you will help to maintain and develop
  • Flexible working at client locations which often requires time away from home (during the week)
  • Contributing to the development of the Accenture Supply Chain practice, providing best practice, insights and/or expertise to others
  • Development of viewpoints and thought leadership that can be championed internally and externally
  • Building and developing strong external relationships within the supply chain and logistics industry

What We're Looking For

 

Candidates should have solid experience in the supply chain and logistics area from working in either Retail, Consumer Goods, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Distributors/3PLs and/or other consultancies showing experience in these sectors. You will be expected to be passionate and positive about the opportunity to enhance your existing experience and grow Accenture's capability to deliver supply chain solutions to our clients.

 

At a Manager level, we would like to hear from candidates that can demonstrate a number of the skills below:

  • Capable of building strong relationships with clients
  • Proven capability in team management comprising both internal and client personnel
  • Responsibility for defining client issues and shaping projects to meet client expectations
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including engagement at senior level to deliver business outcomes

 What experience is required?

 

We require people with a proven track record either within other consultancies or blue-chip industry, typical previous roles may include operational management, business development, materials handling applications and consultancy. The ability to work in a project related environment is critical. We are particularly looking for the following capabilities:

  • Proven experience gained from a consulting or operations position in Supply Chain Management focused on Fulfilment and logistics operations
  • Functional experience should include some of the following: distribution and logistics, automated materials handling, inventory management, demand/supply planning, warehouse management systems, transport management systems
  • Experience of customer facing situations, combining industry skill and knowledge with client interaction
  • Experience in management and development of client/internal stakeholder relationships
  • Strong academic performance including University/College degree (2:1 or higher)

What consulting skills are expected?

  • Able to develop and apply supply chain and consulting skills and capabilities effectively to solve complex business issues
  • High level of numeracy and strong problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Skilled in drawing conclusions and synthesizing fact-based recommendations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (speaking, writing, listening)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment
  • Organises and directs quality work, pushing self and others to add value by meeting expectations and completing deliverables regardless of obstacles
  • “Hands on” practical approach
  • Plans and coordinates own and/or team's work activities to meet commitments and quality expectations
  • Maximises team performance by encouraging collaboration and addressing issues that impact performance of team members (i.e., client and Accenture).
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, confident, poised, articulate, dynamic, ambitious, friendly and personable.
  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to relate to senior client executives and to develop relationships with clients
  • Self-starter, demonstrating initiative, confidence and leadership desire and potential
