Accenture Research is looking for a leader in our communications research team to transform our thought leadership and industry analysis. In this role you will work closely with top global leadership to identify and research industry trends, build custom research projects and develop a unique point of view on the market.

The right person for this role will have a deep understanding of the communications industry, and clear perspective on what will happen next in this dynamic and fast-changing industry. Skills in strategy, client relationship development and research are central to the position. In addition, comfort working with data and visual presentation of information is critical.

About Accenture Research

Accenture Researchers is a team of 250 researchers based in 23 countries providing insights and analysis to Accenture and its clients throughout the world. Accenture Research translates into continual opportunities to expand on what you can do. Our researchers come together from a wide variety of skills and backgrounds to create talented teams of problem-solvers. Working closely with the senior executives in each of the industries, geographies and businesses, our work is split into three main areas:

·     Developing Thought Leadership: Accenture Research’s role in the overall Accenture Innovation Architecture is to identify and anticipate game-changing business, market and technology trends through provocative thought leadership. These projects can be broad, involving multiple senior stakeholders and leading to a series of external publications and assets for diagnosing client performance. Or they can be small, focused on a certain niche topic, geography or industry segment.

·     Working on client engagements: A growing portion of our work is on client engagements where we work with the consulting practice to provide deep research and industry expertise. Typical work with our clients might be to project future trends and their likely impact on individual clients at the intersection of digital and strategy, or to benchmark a capability or function to provide best practices in an industry.

·     New business opportunities: Helping Accenture understand markets and companies and identifying ways in which we can help clients become high-performance businesses and public services. A typical analysis might be a strategic diagnostic of a company, an overview of market trends or a brief on digital disruption in one industry.

Successful research requires people who not only have strong research skills but who also have a client-focused mentality and a confident personal style. Successful researchers build deep relationships with their peers and senior executives inside Accenture and with a wide network of peers and experts on the outside.

  • Partner and develop relationships with the senior professionals in Accenture’s global Communications consulting practice to drive a coordinated research program, which includes development of Thought Leadership or Points of View, bringing insight and perspectives on Accenture’s business, support sales and delivery activities with current and prospective clients
  • Actively drive, publish and present Thought Leadership for the Communications industry, working closely with industry leadership, the industry research team as well as the wider Accenture Research capacity
  • Scope and deliver ad-hoc research projects for clients or Accenture’s business development, utilizing several internal and external sources, and involving other research team members
  • Enable the practice to propose, win and execute engagements for clients which require research expertise or insights
  • Maintain an external network of relevant industry experts
  • Actively participate in initiatives to keep developing Accenture Research as a team and provider or relevant insights.
  • Identify new sources of relevant content and contribute to evaluations of external content for acquisition.

  • Deep understanding of the Communications industry: in-depth knowledge and experience of current business industry topics. Able to communicate your own perspective of the key industry trends and challenges, the value chain, the company financial value drivers, the key players, the technology / IT evolution, consumer trends.
  • End-to-end Research, Analytical and Story-telling skills: ability to take an issue and turn it into researchable questions; able to scope the research effort and cost it accurately; able to use most research techniques to tell a compelling, insightful, business-focused story about the data that is relevant to Accenture’s business and clients.
  • Ability to establish credibility: many of our customers are senior-level leaders internally and at clients so it is critical that we can establish and sustain both our expertise and our professionalism.
  • Strong presentation skills: Ability to present research findings to customers, often in a virtual setting, and defend your insights. You must be able to work in PowerPoint and create well-structured, clearly written presentations with relevant data visualization.
  • Teaming and communication skills: You are expected to be a role model for junior researchers in the wider Communications, Media and Technology (CMT) research team (30+ people in 20+ countries), both through the work you deliver and through your support to help others grow.
