Technology Advisory is part of Accenture’s Technology Consulting Practice within Financial Services. We architect, plan, design, build and implement solutions for clients in the UK, Europe and around the globe. The Intelligent Application service line assists clients in transforming and migrating their application estate. We define the target state required to support the digital business, simplify operating models and drive significant cost savings.
The Intelligent Application service line assists clients shape their application estate, advising the C-suite on the target application landscape in response to the digital disruption and contemporary business challenges faced by our clients. You will be responsible for producing the business case and roadmap to optimise and modernise the applications, including developing the overall application and cloud-enablement strategy. 
Implementation of the strategy will usually require significant involvement from you in driving forward the resulting Application Modernisation initiatives and projects, in which the Accenture teams work with the clients architecting solutions in key strategic areas, such as migrating the legacy application estate to a new cloud-native, future application architecture or PaaS.
We expect our consultants to be always relevant, bringing our clients expertise and experience in application architecture and new hosting solutions. Our consultants must combine industry and technology relevance with strong delivery experience and capability specific to Financial Services.
What responsibilities will you have?
Within this specialty, you will need to possess an open, adaptable and technology agnostic mind-set. Drawing on a good understanding of technology with broad experience of application development, application architecture, application management and production operations. We require you to have a broad awareness of the application estate and its functional & technical fitness to the business vision and strategy, portfolio management throughout the lifecycle of applications, and financial assessment and business case to build, modernise, and maintain a fit-for-purpose application estate cost-efficiently.
You will support your business-aligned colleagues in pre-sales and post-sales activity and will assist them in shaping the application estate assessment and application modernisation approach, developing options and making recommendations.  You will also be responsible for leading teams delivering the recommended approach.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
  • Application and architecture development within IT change programs, enterprise architecture, application estate assessment & management
  • Experience and credibility to perform an advisory role to C-suite level clients, on strategy and current trending technologies
  • Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous
    • Application migrations from legacy infrastructure to cloud
    • System Integration
    • Data Migration & ETL processes
  • Solid understanding of application and architecture development within a variety of technical platforms (Mainframe, J2EE, Microsoft, .NET)
  • Experience in cost saving programs, and/or Total Cost Ownership (TCO) management and reduction experience
  • Experience in application architecture including the as-is and to-be architecture, and the gap analysis
  • Experience in application assessment, in terms of functional and technical fitness to a business
  • Hands-on delivery or involvement in large IT change programs
  • Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented/ problem-solving environment
  • Demonstrated success in project work across many industry sectors, particularly within financial services
  • Experience of working within an information systems environment
What academic qualifications do you need?
  • Undergraduate University degree (2:1) or equivalent: Preferably from a Technical/ Engineering background e.g. Computer Science
