Mental Health Awareness Week: Through Your Eyes
By: Accenture UK

Monday 13th May marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. This week is about all of us, given that our research found that 9 in 10 will be touched by mental health, and it’s through our collective support and awareness that we can all succeed. Here at Accenture, we’re taking this opportunity to showcase our supportive communities, help our people to be mental health aware and promote the supports that we have available.

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health and mental health problems and to inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all. It gives us a great opportunity to understand the issues that might affect our people and highlight the support and training available to everyone who works here.

This year, we’ve created a set of illustrations entitled ‘Through Your Eyes’. We wanted to take a fresh approach to how everyone views mental health and the different effects that it has on people. We’ve taken real experiences shared by five of our people and have worked with local illustrator Erin Aniker to create bespoke pieces of artwork depicting different mental health journeys. We want these pieces to trigger a different way to better understand mental health and how support can help to improve and manage these situations. These five pieces of art are now on display across our UK offices as prints, as well as postcards.

Alongside these illustrations, there’s lots of activities taking place, both in our offices and on our client sites. We will also have our Mental Health Allies available to discuss how anyone can get mental health aware and the support available to our people. Our community is strong and supportive, and we want everyone to realise that you never know when you’ll have the opportunity to be a vital support to someone in your life.

At Accenture, you have access to a wealth of mental health resources to help you or someone around you and we are dedicated to every kind of inclusion and diversity. Watch the inspirational #InclusionStartsWithI video, which encourages us all to think about the role we can all play in encouraging diversity or find out more about our commitment to creating a truly inclusive culture.
