The event

On 7 October, Accenture and The Alan Turing Institute partnered to host the Innovation Symposium, featuring the latest in applied data science and artificial intelligence research. During this virtual event, interactive demonstrations were held with the researchers and our Accenture technical experts which provided clients with opportunities to understand the latest cutting-edge innovations and how they might be applied to their organisation.

The Innovation Symposium presented five new breakthrough projects of the latest cutting-edge academic research that could be brought through to commercial application in an organisation. This interactive online event was run by our executive facilitators from The Dock, Accenture’s global R&D and innovation centre.

Network Anomaly Detection

Manual detection of anomalies in networks is complex and labour-intensive. We’ve applied AI technology that focuses on the nodes and their connections.

Counterfactual Explanations

Explaining the decisions and inner workings of complex AI models, creating an understanding that is useful and trustworthy from a human point of view.

Optimized Robot Performance

We can solve some of the unknowns of introducing robots into workspaces, by creating sophisticated and accurate simulations of how the robots.

Augmented Evolutionary Intelligence

We take human expertise into account via gamification and Virtual Reality and feed this into our system so it learns from ‘best practice’.

Algorithmic Fairness

A tool that allows data scientists to understand bias and fairness imbalances to enable fairer outcomes.

We were delighted that Lord David Puttnam, Chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on Democracy and Digital Technologies was our keynote speaker. We also had number of other speakers, including Professor Sir Adrian Smith FRS, Institute Director and Chief Executive of The Alan Turing Institute.
