Agris working in IT industry already around 15 years, last 7 years at Accenture. Before he was system administrator in hometown Ventspils, and doing some lectures for school children at planetarium. By education he is Master in computer science.
Started work at Accenture as intern after Bootcamp training he was working on Communication media projects, while for a while also worked with satellite image processing in Ventspils University.
How to approach our clients in sustainability manner? This what he was thinking every time, and decided to organize workshop for developers and discuss how to create a “Green coding”. It took him around 3 months to create guidelines and update process of coding. In accordance with “Value 360 meter” – the new way to move closer to understanding the client and giving feedback on what is the actual results being produced in the project.
It is the practices of designing and writing software with the awareness for how it is impacting the environment via energy use. Grey software is when we do not consider the sustainability aspect of software and is the baseline to compare against. Green software usually starts as grey and with refactoring, good planning and architecture optimizes its performance and reduces the energy consumption of the system, becoming green.
In their project they defined the following core principles (M4R) when thinking about sustainable software:
