The HR Business Partner (HRBP) ensures that HR service delivery aligns and responds to strategic objectives of both HR and the business. This role reports to the ANZ Field HR Lead and works closely with other executives in HR, recruitment and talent supply chain. The HRBP is also responsible for leading a number of People Advisors on the ground.


The HRBP has key HR relationships with the APAC and/or Global HR Business Partner and Local Managing Directors of the supported GP and with the HR Director. At the highest level, HRBP has responsibility to support the business talent agenda and program initiatives; career management, talent retention, performance management plans, inclusion and diversity, and compensation planning. The role also provides high quality coaching and advisory services to leadership in order to optimize the employee experience.  In addition, HRBP will facilitate the Leadership processes and support Leadership matters.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership / Management

  • Provide leadership and management of direct reports
  • Coordinate, deliver, prioritize and manage escalation of all activities executed by the direct reports
  • Ensure optimal deployment of HR talent and ensure effective service delivery.  
  • Plan and deliver training, coaching and mentoring required to ensure that direct reports possess the capability and confidence to perform to the highest level.

HR Service Delivery

  • Work closely with the business on programs and initiatives that need to be delivered
  • Support and guide direct reports to ensure that processes and programs are implemented effectively.
  • Work closely with the Shared Services team to ensure process effectiveness, employee experience and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Career Management

  • Provide process support for career model and help align business practices to appropriate career models, talent segments, compensation tracks, career paths. 
  • Support high performer programs and talent reviews - 9 Box, succession planning, senior manager talent reviews.

Performance Management Process

  • Ensure linkage of business talent strategy into standard performance management processes and messages (promotion guidance and affordability, specific career model expectations and guidance, rating peer group approach, etc.)

Compensation / Rewards

  • Support standard and business specific reward and recognition program administration.
  • Ensure linkage of business talent strategy into compensation structures, processes and messages
  • Identify & support compensation interventions to address retention or other needs.

Develop Capabilities

  • Work with the Learning team on capability development plans and skills building priorities within the CSG/GP
  • Monitor success of capability building priorities (metrics on core or planned training completions, budget usage, highlight issues)
  • Support nomination/selection of participants for invitation training and investments.

Retain Talent

  • Participate in development of the business Talent Strategy working with the HR Business Partner, Talent Strategist.
  • Be informed/aware of Supply/Demand planning & implications on Retain Talent needs.
  • Support engagement analysis and outcomes, and coordinate with business ‘people’ forums on analysis of results.
  • Monitor and support retention - monitor and address attrition issues and trends, provide leadership information about attrition using data in standard reports, support actions to retain “at risk” individuals.
  • Support business people advocacy/recognition activities, partnering with ‘people’ forums who will drive initiatives and programs.

Employee Relations (ER)

  • Manage ER programs (with support form the ER Lead) in driving complex/sensitive employee relations matters
  • Plan and action managed attrition activities and programs as required
  • Support direct reports in ER activities alongside the ER Lead


  • Ideally a Bachelor degree with a focus in Human Resources Management or Business Management related discipline

Professional Qualifications

A Human Resources designation/certification preferred


Work Experience

  • Significant Human Resources generalist experience or business role providing deep insight into HR related matters
  • Experience in management of team/s
  • Extensive HR service delivery management experience
  • Proven record of delivering best practice HR solutions
  • Strong actionable understanding of ER
  • A high degree of business acumen including an understanding of the financial implications of HR services / solutions
  • Innovative problem solving and decision making
  • Strong coaching and partnering capability combined with a demonstrated ability to influence
  • Experience of creating successful and productive high level working relationships as a means of driving strategy, solution development and services delivery
