Exploring Ireland’s digital divide
We explore the digital divide in Ireland including what we can do to help break down the barriers to access and engagement for all.
Our new Digital Index measures the key indicators of Ireland’s progress with digital interactions and scores them to highlight inequalities. The research reveals both positives and pitfalls in digital interactions that have accelerated since the start of the pandemic and how we can support Ireland’s progress towards a digital society ensuring no one gets left behind.
In 2020 we released research revealing a gap between those who have the confidence, skills and ability to engage with digital services and those who don't. The report includes recommendations to help Ireland thrive as we emerge out of the pandemic.
As our reliance on technology grows, we must as a society be sure to bring everyone on the same journey. Both technology and the digital skill level required to interact with it move at a pace that can leave young Irish people behind if they don’t have the access and/or means to gain everyday digital skills that can unlock opportunities for them.
That’s why we created GApp, a chatbot where you can gain access to digital skills courses, and allows you to generate a CV, get connected to further resources, and find a role that inspires you with Accenture.
Connecting WhatsApp with Chatbot technology, we can chat to this audience in an environment they’re comfortable with, at a pace that suits them. It’s a space with no judgement, no teachers, just a friendly chat that could be the starting point for something amazing.
