Gasunie readies to compete in a low-carbon future

Around the globe, the energy transition is impacting the way utilities do business.

For Gasunie, a leading gas transmission company in the Netherlands, company-wide digitization was vital to prepare for the country’s transition to a low-carbon energy system. 

Through digitization, Gasunie aims to transform itself from a gas transmission to a broad energy infrastructure company, leveraging its knowledge and infrastructure, as well as its position in the energy ecosystem, to remain relevant and accelerate the energy transition to a low carbon future. 

Accenture worked with Gasunie to define a digital strategy that will create a robust foundation for the company’s digital transformation over five years. 

The digitization roadmap included concrete improvement initiatives and a detailed governance and operating model. The strategy identifies digital and data services and solutions that make use of digital twin, connected worker, supply chain optimization, and risk-based asset management technologies.

The focus: to optimize Gasunie’s operations, increase collaboration and data sharing among the company’s teams and with ecosystem players, and lay the groundwork to enable Gasunie to offer broader energy infrastructure services.
