Data Science Consultant

Key skills and experience:

  • Past experience working in a data science practice for a large organisation (or consultancy) and operationalising predictive models to production.
  • Customer facing experience and excellent presentation and communication skills - the successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate results, trends and business outcomes to internal and external stakeholders in a commercial meaningful way.
  • Expert in gathering business requirements and proven experience in translating business problems into data pipelines & model framework.
  • Ability to utilise tools to perform descriptive analytics, extracting insights from large and complex datasets, and developing proof of concepts.
  • Ability to apply visual analysis techniques and toolsets to generate visualisations and extract patterns and insights from data.
  • Experience with different Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques (classification, regressions, feature engineering etc.)
  • Experienced with time-series analysis, NLP, virtual agents (VA) and computer vision (CV) techniques.
  • Ability to determine accurate modelling technique based on the complexity of the problem.
  • Previous experience in building, testing and deploying predictive models into production (Decision Tree, GLM, Random Forest, GBM, Neural nets etc).
  • Manage the full life-cycle of real-time data science models: model development, promotion to production, monitoring and retraining.
  • Experience with AI/Deep Learning libraries/platforms/services, such as TensorFlow, Cognitive Services, AWS Services, Watson, and other open source options
  • Experience with a range of programming languages/tools/datastores (such as Python, R, Pig, Hive, Impala, Hadoop, Tableau/Power BI, SQL etc.)
  • A sound understanding of digital and cognitive technologies and analytics, information management and business process-based solutions.
  • Ability to educate internal stakeholders and clients about AI and digital technologies.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and perform independently to achieve desired business outcomes

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Data Science
  • Mathematics degree, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Bioinformatics or another quantitative field

Other:

  • Working with large datasets and distributed computing (Hadoop, Spark, PySpark )
  • Access through visualisation (Tableau/PowerBI)
  • ETL and data engineering
  • Full-stack software development (Java, NodeJS etc)
  • UI/UX development
  • Functional Programming (Scala)
