AWS Architect Associate Manager Dr. Isi Idemudia collaborates with clients to transition their workloads from on-premises to AWS cloud. But when she’s not helping design and manage migration architectures for Fortune 500 companies, Isi devotes herself to something even more important: encouraging girls and women to keep their heads in the cloud.
Although Isi’s path from a one-computer classroom to the Accenture AWS Business Group is inspiring in itself, she’s not done yet. Her mission to bring more women into cloud technology within Accenture starts at home with her two young daughters.
To address global warming, the world must lower its carbon emissions. Climeworks, a Swiss company specializing in carbon dioxide air capture, has an ambitious vision. To achieve it, they need digital plant capabilities.
Climeworks aims to filter 1 percent of global CO2 emissions from the air by 2025 using Direct Air Capture (DAC)—the world’s first commercial carbon removal technology. If they are to make the impact they are aiming for, they need to scale their offering. To meet that goal, Accenture proposed the implementation of a Digital Plant solution. This will lay the groundwork for Climeworks to gain better control of their plants in the field, optimize their operations, increase production, improve maintenance, lower operational costs, and increase their competitiveness.
In Kenya’s Makueni County, the Ministry of Health sought to explore innovative, blended financing options for primary care and engage public and private sector actors to support its journey toward healthcare for all. Accenture helped align the government, Amref Health Africa, and Philips around the partnership vision and model to improve primary care outcomes. A new public/private partnership launched at three sites over an 18-month pilot.
Based on early results, the partnership team reassembled to plan for scale from three facilities to all 224 in the county. The model is revolutionizing primary care in Kenya, and in their communities, patients are getting the quality care they need to thrive. Prenatal care visits increased by 31%, and births attended by skilled practitioners grew by 78%. The pilot has shown how Kenya can improve healthcare quality and access with better facility management, worker skills, operations, and clinical financial performance.
