The COVID-19 crisis is hitting people in India hard. Daily wage workers, migrant laborers, construction site workers and their families are among those who suffer most. Many have lost their livelihood and are often unable to return home because of the lockdown.
Accenture is supporting The Akshaya Patra Foundation in providing healthy cooked meals and packed grocery kits – more than 250,000 so far – to these people in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and NCR. The company is matching donations its employees have been making through its internal ‘Making a Difference’ platform. The donations help Akshaya Patra Foundation continue to mitigate the hardship the pandemic is causing.
Additionally, Accenture has partnered with Sambhav Foundation to distribute ration kits to 2,000 families of daily wage workers in the state of Karnataka.
