Research Engineer: AI Prototypes
This is a key role in the newly created BioInnovation team of Accenture Labs. We focus on Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics, with emphasis on Machine Learning for healthcare and life sciences.
Accenture Labs design and prototype new insights and concepts. These have significant impacts on our clients’ business. We offer a blend of industrial-related research and academic-related activities, with an open publication policy and contribution to the open-source community. All supported by our Accenture Labs network of over 200 applied R&D specialists at seven sites worldwide.
Job Description:
Design, implement, and own the full life cycle of AI research prototypes, achieved through collaboration with research scientists and machine learning engineers. Turn experimental methods and their output into fully-fledged prototypes showcasing the impact of our biotech research. It's all hands-on prototyping, where the role is responsible for the entire technology stack of such prototypes, including data tier, back end/API, and front end.
Qualifications
Qualifications and skills needed:
MSc in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent industry experience
Hands-on experience with research prototypes design and development
Proven Python and JavaScript programming skills
Solid understanding of foundational web technologies (HTML, CSS, HTTP, web APIs, JSON)
Expertise in back-end development (e.g. *at least one* from Django, Flask, Node.js)
Proven knowledge of *at least one* established front-end web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)
Solid experience with data engineering, data ingestion, relational databases management, SQL
Familiarity with Machine Learning foundations
Hands on knowledge of Linux OS, shell scripting
Experience with git and popular issue tracking systems
Creativity and analytical problem-solving
Good verbal and written communication in English
Additional extras:
Familiarity with Knowledge Graph technologies a plus but not a hard requirement (e.g. RDF, RDFS/OWL, SPARQL, triplestores)
Previous exposure to Healthcare and Life Sciences projects appreciated
Work Location
The work location for this role is Dublin, Ireland and includes a mix of working remotely and in an Accenture office (The Dock, in central Dublin). As an employer, we will be flexible as much as possible to support your specific work/life needs.
