About the Role


Accenture Research and The Dock have worked together over the past 6 months to forge a partnership where research is embedded into both projects and client experiences. We are now seeking a research professional who can lead our growing research team there and build on the strong start we’ve made. Specifically,

  1. Bring the best of Accenture Research into the work of The Dock. And bring the best thinking and opportunities from The Dock into the research team.
  2. Provide on-the-ground leadership to our team of researchers in Dublin – currently four including this role but expected to double over the coming year. Foster innovation, collaboration and empower and enable our team there.
  3. Partner with The Dock to understand the pipeline of research needs; ensure that the right resources from the research team are focused on the right projects and in the right way; manage the pipeline, taking responsibility for resolving any resourcing issues, ensuring quality and seamless communications throughout.
  4. Constantly innovate, create and invent new ways to enhance what we bring to The Dock and to apply the newest, most exciting advances in research to our work there.
  5. Contribute to The Dock’s success and growth as part of the broader team.
  6. Scope, design and execute research projects working with others from across Accenture Research, with The Dock and with clients.
  7. Be an ambassador and advocate for research at The Dock internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work with D&PS business leaders
    • Be ahead of the curve in understanding market trends
    • to differentiate in the market through unique and differentiated points of view
  • Grow capabilities in the team, eg. organizing learning activities, create x-pollination opportunities
  • Foster innovation and build research assets that differentiate Accenture Research in the market
  • Market and sell capability to clients internally. Create awareness and understanding for that capability in Accenture and Accenture Research
  • Represent Accenture Research in client-facing situations, for instance in proposals and live presentations where a core part of the research solution lies in data modeling
  • Manage global research projects with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams

Your skills
We are looking for someone who has a comprehensive skill set:
“Hard” skills:
  • Track record in research and analysis in Defense & Public Safety industries
  • Subject matter expertise in industry related themes such as innovation and new technology
  • Understanding of innovative format of insight generation such as rapid prototyping, design thinking etc
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to make sense out of data
  • Solid experience in the presentation of research deliverables to high level executives
  • A track record of external presence in conferences and in publishing literature would be a plus
“Soft” skills:
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Proven ability to manage people and research projects
  • Experience in supervising and coaching data scientists and statisticians
  • Strong people developer / change management skills
  • Entrepreneurial attitude
  • Strong professional qualities: client focus, decisiveness, integrity, resilience to stress against stretch goals, deadlines.
  • Strong communications skills (focus on actionable intelligence) and good interpersonal skills in one-to-one and team settings
Additional Information
Reports to:   Global PS lead
Qualifications: Post-graduate degree/ PhD or equivalent
Work Experience: 
  • Experienced Manager or similar
  • 10+ years research experience
  • Defense, border or public safety public institution, research think tank or recognized research government agency
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Preferred start date: as soon as possible
