Quantity Surveyor
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the successful commercial delivery of complex capital projects by providing expert quantity surveying and cost management services throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams, you will help ensure projects are delivered within budget, in accordance with contractual requirements, and with a strong focus on value, quality, and risk management.
You will contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale construction and infrastructure projects while driving commercial excellence and supporting informed business decisions.
Your Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Prepare, manage, and monitor project cost plans, budgets, estimates, and financial forecasts throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Support procurement activities, including preparing tender documentation, evaluating bids, conducting commercial assessments, and assisting with contract award recommendations.
- Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and commercial procedures.
- Measure, value, and certify construction works, including interim valuations and final accounts.
- Review, assess, negotiate, and manage variations, change orders, claims, and commercial risks.
- Monitor project costs and financial performance, identifying cost risks, opportunities, and mitigation measures.
- Prepare regular commercial reports, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, commitment tracking, and cost-to-complete analyses.
- Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives throughout design and construction.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Cost Managers, Project Controls, Engineering teams, contractors, and clients to ensure effective commercial management.
- Maintain accurate project records, cost databases, benchmarking information, and historical cost data.
- Ensure compliance with client governance, internal financial controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing best practices and supporting the development of commercial processes.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Cost Management within construction, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects.
Experience supporting projects across the full construction lifecycle, from pre-contract services through project completion and final account settlement.
Strong knowledge of cost planning, estimating, procurement, contract administration, change management, and commercial reporting.
Good understanding of standard forms of construction contracts (e.g. FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or VOB).
Experience preparing valuations, managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
Strong analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in multidisciplinary and international project environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a client-focused mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-standard commercial and cost management software.
Professional membership with RICS, AACE International, or a comparable professional institution is desirable. Candidates working towards chartership are encouraged to apply.
Experience in sectors such as Data Centres, Infrastructure, Industrial, Energy, Healthcare, or Commercial Real Estate is advantageous.
Fluent English is required. German language skills (minimum B2) are desirable and may be required depending on the project.
