Role Overview
Join our cybersecurity team and take a lead role in analyzing, reverse-engineering, and defending against advanced malware threats.
As a Malware Engineer Specialist / Team Lead, you will drive malware analysis and threat investigation efforts, support incident response, and help strengthen enterprise defenses. You’ll work closely with SOC, DFIR, and threat intelligence teams to detect, analyze, and mitigate sophisticated attacks, while also guiding team members and contributing to capability development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute malware analysis and reverse engineering activities to identify threat behavior and impact
- Perform static and dynamic analysis of malicious code and generate actionable intelligence (IOCs, TTPs)
- Support and guide incident response investigations involving malware threats
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SOC, IR, Threat Intel) to enhance detection and response capabilities
- Develop and maintain detection rules, signatures, and threat intelligence outputs
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and recommend enhancements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and capability-building sessions
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment on security priorities
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in Malware Analysis / Malware Engineering
- Strong understanding of:
- Malware behavior, attack lifecycle, and threat actor techniques
- Operating systems (Windows/Linux internals) and system processes
- Hands-on experience with:
- Malware analysis tools (e.g., IDA, Ghidra, x64dbg, OllyDbg, sandbox environments)
- Knowledge of:
- Networking fundamentals and security principles
- Threat analysis and incident response methodologies
- Ability to:
- Analyze complex threats and translate findings into actionable insights
- Work independently while supporting team collaboration
Additional Information:
- Must be amenable with shifting schedule at Uptown BGC, with daily RTO work set-up.
