Role Purpose

We are looking for a Technical Analyst who can bridge Product, Engineering, Architecture and Quality Engineering to deliver complex digital and ecommerce initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about customer experiences, enjoys working through ambiguity, and can translate complex business and technical challenges into clear, testable and delivery-ready outcomes.

You will play a key role in discovery, helping teams understand customer journeys, transactional workflows, system behaviours and dependencies before delivery begins.

What You'll Do:

Discovery & Analysis

  • Lead and participate in discovery workshops with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Understand customer journeys, user behaviours and transactional workflows.

  • Analyse current and future-state experiences across digital and customer-facing platforms.

  • Understand customer use cases and identify opportunities to improve user experience.

  • Translate ambiguity into clear requirements and actionable outcomes.

  • Challenge assumptions and identify gaps, risks, dependencies and edge cases.

Requirements & User Stories

  • Write clear, concise and testable user stories.

  • Develop functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Create acceptance criteria that support quality engineering and automation testing.

  • Break large initiatives into smaller, deliverable slices of value.

  • Ensure requirements are ready for engineering teams before delivery begins.

  • Support backlog refinement, estimation and sprint planning activities.

Technical Analysis

  • Analyse APIs, integrations, data flows and system behaviours.

  • Understand how customer transactions move through multiple backend systems.

  • Document integration points, data movement and downstream impacts.

  • Work closely with engineers and architects on solution design and implementation considerations.

  • Support discussions around technical trade-offs, scalability, performance and operational impacts.

Agile Delivery

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and Quality Engineers.

  • Support delivery teams through clarification, backlog management and ongoing requirements refinement.

  • Help teams maintain delivery momentum by ensuring upcoming work is understood and ready.

  • Communicate progress and unblock delivery challenges through effective stakeholder engagement.

Quality & Testability

  • Partner closely with Quality Engineering and Automation teams.

  • Ensure requirements are testable and suitable for automation.

  • Identify edge cases, failure scenarios and quality risks early.

  • Support implementation of scalable quality practices and automated testing approaches.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Experience as a Technical Analyst, Business Analyst, Product Analyst or Digital Business Analyst.

  • Experience working on ecommerce, retail, digital product or high-volume customer transaction platforms.

  • Strong discovery and workshop facilitation capability.

  • Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria and functional requirements.

  • Strong understanding of Agile product delivery and Scrum practices.

  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, data flows and distributed systems.

  • Ability to translate customer journeys into technical requirements and delivery outcomes.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across Product, Engineering, Architecture and Quality teams.

Highly Desirable

Experience in one or more of:

  • Ecommerce and digital commerce platforms.

  • Order management systems (OMS).

  • Cart and checkout experiences.

  • Product catalogue and pricing solutions.

  • Promotions and customer offers.

  • Inventory and fulfilment systems.

  • Customer service or contact centre platforms.

  • Omnichannel customer experiences.

  • Loyalty and customer engagement platforms.

  • Event-driven architecture and microservices environments.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Turning complex customer experiences into clear, actionable user stories.

  • Helping teams deliver customer value quickly through effective story decomposition.

  • Identifying risks, dependencies and edge cases before development begins.

  • Improving customer journeys through strong systems thinking and discovery.

  • Working collaboratively across Product, Engineering, Architecture and QE to reduce ambiguity and improve delivery outcomes.
