Overall Responsibilities

  • The candidate is to supervise China tax operation team on tax transitions, operations, initiative projects, process/productivity improvements, service management, to ensure successful deliverable of China tax tasks for Accenture China branch.
  • Act as tax supervisor over several subordinates on job review, task allocation, compliance control as well as people counselling and coaching. etc.
  • Play partial Assistant Country Controller role, that act as POC for delegated tax process escalation, investigations and resolutions, and stakeholder management.
  • Act as tax operation owner to ensure deliverable compliance, team engagement, and collaboration with Global and local tax COE, Controllership team, and other related parties.
  • Cope with China tax COE leads on overall China tax initiatives, planning, and executions
  • Align with APAC Tax VAT lead based on India, for overall consistence, efficiency and compliance of China VAT processes.

Role Expectations 

  • Lead a team responsible for multiple operations of the tax compliance activities providing operational guidance and review, monitoring operations performance on agreed upon service level agreements and key metrics, also advising on appropriate action plan where needed.
  • As key contact of support to guide and expertise for driving tax continuous improvement events and projects, including innovation/transitional projects from initiation to completion within or crossing Controllership functional teams for most beneficial result and secure milestone achievements.
  • Strong capability on tax accounting including CIT, VAT, WHT, and stamp duty
  • Assist RTR manager on overall capability development events including controllership capability programs, agenda, and training/sharing curriculums.
  • Responsible for tax operation and tax compliance matters, including but not limited to tax filing, provision, and audit support etc.
  • Provide support to tax team staff for critical issues particularly where key country contacts are involved. Support should include but not be limited to items including leadership and guidance on the appropriateness of responses and scope of investigations
  • Involve in/lead locally and globally initiative projects
  • Stakeholder relationship maintenance and enhancement activities
  • Review tax team member deliveries and ensure proper accounting treatment or action is applied according to Accenture policies and procedures and local tax law.
  • Support accounting matters and work with team leads and/or country controllers to push forward compliance agenda.
  • Collaborate with local/global tax COE, area tax, country controllers, global controllership on tax review, problem solving, process improvement, and matter clarifications etc.
  • Lead and participating team innovation and digitalization, visualization agenda, proactively cope with change and process re-engineering when necessary.
  • Actively drive Local and/or Global projects representing tax Controllership operation China and voice issues and positions for the team
  • Manage tax audit and tax bureau with strong professional and negotiation skills
  • Handle queries from internal or external audits, provide supporting documents and liaise the best outcomes
  • Propose and pursue any necessary adjustments to account balances to ensure that they are compliant with Accenture policy and US GAAP
  • Develop a clear understanding of the business transactions and processes to aid tax reconciliation procedures and to provide value added advice to finance contact(s)
  • Develop understanding of the internal systems and business transactions that impact accounts
  • Execute Accenture internal controls and ensure all are under compliance requirements including statutory, SOX, policy etc.
  • Support Accenture venture and acquisition controllership on tax accounting matters when needed

Experience/Knowledge Required

Financial Skills and Competencies

  • 6-8 years’ working experience in tax and/or general accounting, with hands-on experience of VAT and Corporate Income Tax.
  • Experience and knowledge in tax planning and tax consulting, managing tax teams and negotiation with Tax Bureau      
  • Finance and accounting degree(s); CPA/CTA/ Medium Level Accountant are preferred.
  • Good knowledge on China corporate income tax and VAT tax laws and regulations as well as preferential policy
  • Good knowledge on US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX compliance
  • Perfect business sense and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire people and obtain results through others under LDNA concept
  • Strong project management skills, with ability to manage implementation projects within tight time constraints
  • Great attitude in taking ownership and working under pressure
  • Proactive; prospective thinking; logical mindset
  • Good sense on innovation concepts, FORM, DT methodologies, procedures and tools and individual efficiency and productivity measurement and improvement
  • Strong sense and capability on collaborations, flexibility on problem resolution, communication, and negotiation.
  • Fluent English oral and written command, strong negotiation, and communication skills via English.
  • PC skills (Advanced Excel, Word and Outlook); strong knowledge of SAP Hana or equivalent is preferred
  • Good interpersonal, coaching skills with strong confidence and influence
