Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer specializing in Snowflake with 2–3 years of experience in data engineering, SQL development, data pipelines, and cloud-based data platforms. The role will focus on supporting the development, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines, data models, and data transformation workflows using Snowflake and related technologies. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in SQL, data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and basic cloud data engineering practices. This position requires collaboration with senior data engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and well-structured data solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and data transformation workflows using Snowflake.
- Assist in building reliable, scalable, and well-organized data models for reporting, analytics, and business intelligence use cases.
- Work with senior team members to ensure data quality, performance, documentation, and smooth data operations.
- Develop strong hands-on expertise in Snowflake, SQL, ETL/ELT, and modern data engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformation logic in Snowflake.
- Support ETL/ELT data pipeline development for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources.
- Assist in designing and maintaining data warehouse tables, schemas, and data models.
- Perform data validation, data quality checks, and basic troubleshooting of data issues.
- Optimize SQL queries and Snowflake objects for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency under guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with cloud storage, file ingestion, and data loading processes using Snowflake stages, pipes, or similar mechanisms.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business users to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Follow best practices for version control, documentation, testing, deployment, and production support.
Professional and Technical Skills:
- 2–3 years of experience in data engineering, SQL development, data warehousing, or ETL/ELT development.
- Hands-on experience working with Snowflake in development or production environments.
- Experience supporting data pipelines, data transformations, reporting datasets, or analytics data models.
- Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs, stored procedures, and query optimization basics.
- Good understanding of Snowflake concepts such as warehouses, databases, schemas, stages, file formats, roles, access control, and data loading.
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and data quality checks.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud storage services is preferred.
- Familiarity with Python, dbt, Airflow, Git, or BI/reporting tools is an added advantage.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable SQL code.
- Basic understanding of testing, documentation, version control, and deployment processes.
- Willingness to follow coding standards, data governance practices, and production support procedures.
