What would you do? The Instructional Design Manager is a dynamic leader who oversees the design and delivery of high-impact learning products within the Delivery Center. You’ll guide projects from concept to deployment, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations, learning goals, and enterprise standards. This role combines strategic oversight, hands-on design leadership, and team management—leading 6 to 20 instructional designers while collaborating across content, media, deployment, and delivery teams to bring exceptional learning experiences to life. What You’ll Do Planning/Analysis/Design Phase: • Design innovative learning solutions that align with stakeholder needs and organizational goals. • Collaborate with project sponsors to identify solution options, tradeoffs, cost estimates, and risk mitigation strategies. • Create project budgets, timelines, and work plans while adapting methodologies to meet client preferences. • Synthesize complex inputs into clear, actionable design recommendations. • Establish and maintain cross-project procedures and best practices. Design/Build/Test Phase: • Lead cross-functional teams across instructional design, content, and media development during build and test phases. • Ensure instructional integrity, quality, and consistency across all deliverables. • Guide testing activities, incorporate feedback, and resolve learning design challenges. • Partner with deployment, delivery, and support teams to ensure smooth transitions. • Manage relationships with sponsors, Solutions Management, and Business Interlock to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Operating Phase: • Monitor development against scope, quality, budget, and timelines. • Proactively address project-wide risks, issues, or dependencies. • Promote process and design reuse while continuously improving workflows. • Provide consistent project status reporting to leadership and stakeholders. Team Leadership & People Development: • Define project roles, resource needs, and expectations for team members. • Inspire, guide, and manage a team of 6–20 instructional designers across various levels. • Foster team clarity, collaboration, and accountability. • Mentor project managers and act as a career counselor for staff. • Supervise quality in key areas such as instructional design, learning strategy, and testing.
What are we looking for? Client Engagement & Collaboration: • Maintain regular contact with client stakeholders and subject matter experts. • Ensure client expectations are consistently met—or exceeded—through high-quality learning design. • Encourage diverse perspectives to drive effective analysis and solution development. • Provide status reports to client sponsors or Program Director as required. What You’ll Bring Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Cognitive Psychology, English, Communications, or related field • Master’s degree preferred in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, or Adult Education Experience: • 6+ years of experience designing learning solutions and/or managing learning programs and project teams • Proven track record of managing multiple learning development projects and leading cross-functional teams Skills & Competencies: • Expertise in instructional design methodologies and adult learning theory • Strong project management and leadership skills • Deep knowledge of learning product development lifecycle • Advanced problem solving, risk management, and design thinking • Proven ability to lead geographically distributed teams with diverse skill sets • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Project
Roles and Responsibilities: •In this role you are required to identify and assess complex problems for area of responsibility • The person would create solutions in situations in which analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors • Requires adherence to strategic direction set by senior management when establishing near-term goals • Interaction of the individual is with senior management at a client and/or within Accenture, involving matters that may require acceptance of an alternate approach • Some latitude in decision-making in involved • you will act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments • Decisions individual at this role makes have a major day to day impact on area of responsibility • The person manages large - medium sized teams and/or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) at a client or within Accenture • Please note that this role may require you to work in rotational shifts
