(Internal Title: Accountant)

  • Set up new projects in Vantagepoint, including contracts, tasks, and billing structures, and process all related change orders

  • Lead project setup meetings with Project Managers (PMs) and billing teams to ensure alignment on project financials, scope, and client requirements

  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., percentage-of-completion) and collaborate with PMs to establish and maintain Target ELM

  • Review and process vendor invoices, including appropriate coding for consultants and subcontractors, and maintain accurate project financial records within the system

  • Prepare draft invoices for review by Principals and PMs; finalize and submit invoices in accordance with contract terms and client requirements, including all supporting documentation

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable; proactively manage Work in Progress (WIP) balances in coordination with project teams

  • Support contract administration, including projects requiring certified payroll reporting (where applicable), and assist with project and contract closeout to ensure all revenue and costs are fully recorded

  • Coordinate the submission of documentation required for client audits and payment approvals; liaise with insurance brokers to obtain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for new and ongoing projects

  • Partner with Project Managers to process financial adjustments and collaborate with regional leadership on project performance, including contracts, WIP, receivables, and resource planning

  • Support regional managers with proposal development, including preparation of employee billing rates and other financial inputs

  • Contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of financial processes, billing practices, and internal controls

  • Support the Finance Manager with audit requirements and contribute to monthly and year-end close processes

  • Track and monitor client budgets at the project level, identifying variances and escalating issues as needed

  • Maintain organized document libraries for contracts, invoices, and supporting financial documentation

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing and providing required documentation

  • Develop ad hoc financial reports and analysis for business partners and finance team members

  • Coordinate and prioritize collection efforts for outstanding invoices in collaboration with operations and project teams

  • Identify opportunities to improve billing efficiency and accuracy, and support implementation of process enhancements

  • Provide backup support to other members of the finance team as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Hybrid work model

  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience in project accounting or project-based environments, within a professional office environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field  
  • CPA or progress toward certification (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition, and billing processes
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Vantagepoint)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience in the construction or engineering industry
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project-based ERP systems
  • Knowledge of percentage-of-completion (POC) or project-based revenue recognition methods
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
  • Experience working with large, complex, multi-phase projects or contracts
  • Knowledge of contract management and change order processes
  • Experience improving or standardizing billing and financial processes
  • Familiarity with time and expense systems and project costing methodologies
  • Strong understanding of WIP (Work in Progress) and accrual accounting
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation, based on full-time employment, for roles that may be hired as set forth below.

The base pay range shown below is intended as a guideline to reflect the majority of offers for this role. It does not represent a maximum limit — in some cases, actual compensation may exceed the range where appropriate.
