  • (Internal Title: Estimation IV)
    • Responsible for preparing various types of mechanical trade construction cost estimates in support of the Capital Program and Major Projects.
    • Cost estimates will be required for complex mechanical services related to transit systems and industrial building applications for new construction and repair/renovation projects.
    • Prepare order-of-magnitude, conceptual, feasibility, pre-design, budget, value engineering, control, definitive, and final Engineer’s estimates as well as major change order estimates.
    • Estimate mechanical systems involving subway station ventilation equipment, HVAC, building automation & controls, plumbing, hydronic systems & boilers, storm & sanitary drainage, utilities, fire protection, conveying equipment, service and maintenance equipment, pumps, storage tanks, compressed air, natural gas systems, etc.
    • Prepare cost breakdown documents for progress payments and detailed quantity surveys from analysis of contract drawings and specifications.
    • Prepare basis of estimate documentation for inclusion into reports.
    • Analyze and report on cost breakdowns and price schedules submitted by contractors subsequent to tender closing.
    • Prepare cost variance reports and explanations, tender comparisons, post bid analysis, cost reduction strategies and recommendations.
    • Maintain current construction cost data based on historical costs, market research and indices in the application of a computerized cost estimating system.
    • Provide mechanical trade cost information to the Project Teams for inclusion into budgets, schedules and cash flows.
    • Liaise with various EC&E Branch management and staff, other TTC Branches, external agencies, consultants and suppliers to obtain facts and cost information pertinent to the performance of the estimating work.
    • Review and comment on foreign cost estimates to ensure accuracy, comprehensiveness and consistency with the E&C Branch estimating guidelines and procedures.
    • Maintain files and records of work

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 14 years of experience in in a large engineering and general contracting and cost consultant firm specializing in large multi-faceted projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in the Engineering Technology field or related discipline
  • Considerable working experience in a large engineering and/or general contracting or cost consultant firm specializing in large multi-faceted projects.
  • Hands on experience in the preparation of all ranges of estimates from feasibility study to definitive.
  • Holds a Professional certification with OACETT, CIQS, AACE International, PMI or other relevant technical association

  • Strong understanding of Estimating core processes and procedures  
  • Demonstrate skill in performing all levels and types of estimating, quantification, pricing, cost analysis, escalation, and contingency analysis   
  • Proven technical excellence with the ability to inspire confidence in the integrity of the estimate  
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering performance, manual labor performance, equipment production, and derivation of manual and non-manual wage or salary rates  
  • Expert capability to understand current industry and technical developments, bond and insurance terminology and pricing, currency exchange impacts, and hedging arrangements  
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office  
  • Proficient in general Estimating systems (CostX, HCSS, etc.)  
  • Must maintain professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices  
  • Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership     
  • Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities      
  • Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)    
  • Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment   
  • Proven capacity to anticipate, identify, and minimize risks  
  • Expert ability to detect, capitalize, and be sensitive to others' strengths  
  • Tact to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation, based on full-time employment, for roles that may be hired as set forth below.

The base pay range shown below is intended as a guideline to reflect the majority of offers for this role. It does not represent a maximum limit — in some cases, actual compensation may exceed the range where appropriate.

Role Location Annual Salary Range

Ontario $120,000 to $170,000
