Virtual Skill-Up Accenture Mobile Application Privacy Statement

This privacy statement is effective from 2nd November 2020.

This privacy statement explains how Accenture collects and uses the data of users of the application Virtual Skill-Up (“App”) a mobile device. This privacy statement may be updated regularly, and changes will be reflected in this App. Users are recommended to check regularly the Privacy Policy link in the app and app store (i.e. Apple App Store, Google Play and/or Windows Store). For any change in the purposes of the processing, renewed consent of the users shall be procured.

Accenture is processing your personal data to enable you to use the app and our services and to communicate with you. Accenture will send you a feedback card to understand your performance and to make sure we are aligned on Accenture Corporate Citizenship’s beneficiary reach targets and our overall business strategy. Accenture will not sell your personal data; your personal data will be used purely for reporting purposes.

What information does the App collect and how is it used?

Accenture collects information via Apps in two ways: (1) directly (for example, when you provide information to log into the App or complete a form within the App), and (2) indirectly (for example through mobile analytic technology).

We may collect and process the following information:

  • Email address
  • Age range
  • Gender
  • Employment status
  • Language
  • Voice

You may choose to provide optional information such as your Age range, Gender, Employment Status

Upon installation of the App, we may request access to your microphone or voice recordings. Through the use of the mobile application, Accenture will collect your voice recordings to enable the features that will help to improve your communication skills. We may collect text version of audio recordings using Google’s Speech-to-Text engines which will transcribe the recorded conversation into text, and it will send them back to the App to provide you a score.

Conversations (recorded or overheard) and text version of the recording will be immediately deleted after the App will score your performance.

If you provide Accenture with any personal data of another person (for instance, a family member) via the audio capture you are responsible for ensuring that such person is made aware of the information contained in this privacy statement and that the person has given you his/her consent or has otherwise provided consent, for sharing the information with Accenture.

Except for certain information that is required by law, your decision to provide any personal data to Accenture is voluntary. You will therefore not be subject to adverse consequences if you do not provide personal data. However, please note that if you do not provide certain information, Accenture may not be able to accomplish some, or all of the purposes outlined in this privacy statement.

Automatically Collected Information – The App may collect certain information automatically, such as the amount of time you spend in the App, and information about the way you use the App. You can stop continued collection of information by the App easily by uninstalling the App. To uninstall the App you should use the standard uninstall process of your mobile device. However, please note Accenture will retain any previous usage information collected from the App according with the retention section of this Privacy Statement, How long do you keep my information for? Paragraph below.

Additional functionality enabled

For those consumers that have consented to the installation of any apps and any updates that are released through the app store, you further understand and agree that the App (including any updates) may (i) cause your device to automatically communicate with Accenture or third party servers to deliver the functionality described regarding the App and/or record usage data and metrics, (ii) view, affect or modify preferences or data stored on your device, (iii) collect personal information to provide the features described above and as set out in this privacy policy.

Information provided by you – The App may collect information that you voluntarily provide, for example when you register to use the App using a username and password (if applicable) or when completing a survey or requesting information. We use this information to provide you with the services you request and for other purposes which we would describe to you at the point where your information is collected. For example:

  • surveys or research questionnaires 
  • To determine what is effective about our App, how it is used by users and how we might improve it

Such information collected by this App will be collected and used in accordance with the terms of this privacy statement, the Accenture Privacy Statement, applicable data privacy laws and Accenture’s internal policies.

How long do you keep my information for?

Accenture retains your personal data only for as long as is necessary. Accenture maintains specific records management and retention policies and procedures, so that personal data are deleted after a reasonable time according to the following retention criteria:

  • Accenture retains your personal data as long as it has an ongoing relationship with you.

  • Accenture retains your personal data for as long as needed in order to comply with a legal obligation to which it is subject.

  • Accenture retains your personal data where this is advisable to safeguard or improve Accenture’s legal position (for instance in relation to statutes of limitations, litigation, or regulatory investigations).

Please keep your personal data at all times up to date and inform Accenture of any material changes to your personal data. Conversations (recorded or overheard) will be immediately deleted after the App will score your performance.

Where will my information be processed?

As a global organization with global IT systems, personal data we collect may be routed, stored, or transferred internationally throughout Accenture's worldwide organization or our vendors. We have internal policies in place to ensure an equivalent level of protection is in place across our organization. We may also share personal data with our contracted service providers and advisors who may be located globally and so we may need to transfer your personal data to other countries. Any international transfer of your personal data is governed by our binding corporate rules, standard contractual clauses or takes place in accordance with any other appropriate international data transfer mechanisms and safeguards.

Security

We take appropriate steps to maintain the security of personal data collected via the App. We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to help protect your data. We maintain protocols, controls and relevant policies and procedures, taking into account the risks associated with the processing we undertake.

Third party disclosure

We may transfer personal data to our service providers, professional advisors, public and governmental authorities or third parties in connection with a (potential) corporate or commercial transaction. Such third parties may be located in other countries. Before we do so, we shall take the necessary steps to ensure that your personal data will be given adequate protection as required by relevant data privacy laws and Accenture’s internal policies. Accenture may also transfer your personal data to any of its global affiliates/partners in furtherance of any visits to our Accenture locations. Personal data will not be sold, traded, or otherwise transferred to outside parties not involved in the operation of the services. Outside parties that assist with the operation of the App or the business may receive the personal data so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. Personal data may also be released when appropriate to comply with the law or protect the rights, property or safety of all parties. Unless you are otherwise notified, any transfers of your personal data from within the European Economic Area (EEA) to third parties outside the EEA will be based on an adequacy decision or are governed by the standard contractual clauses. Any other non-EEA related transfers of your personal data will take place in accordance with the appropriate international data transfer mechanisms and standards.

What are my rights?

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Request access to the personal data we process about you: this right entitles you to know whether we hold personal data about you and, if we do, to obtain information on and a copy of that personal data.

  • Request a rectification of your personal data: this right entitles you to have your personal data be corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • Object to the processing of your personal data: this right entitles you to request that Accenture no longer processes your personal data.

  • Request the erasure of your personal data: this right entitles you to request the erasure of your personal data, including where such personal data would no longer be necessary to achieve the purposes.

  • Request the restriction of the processing of your personal data: this right entitles you to request that Accenture only processes your personal data in limited circumstances, including with your consent.

  • Request portability of your personal data: this right entitles you to receive a copy (in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format) of personal data that you have provided to Accenture, or request Accenture to transmit such personal data to another data controller.

If, despite our commitment and efforts to protect your personal data, you believe that your data privacy rights have been violated, we encourage and welcome individuals to come to Accenture first to seek resolution of any complaint. You always have the right to register a complaint directly with the relevant supervisory authority or to make a claim against Accenture with a competent court (either in the country where you live, the country where you work or the country where you deem that data privacy law has been infringed).

Your Consent

I hereby consent to Accenture’s processing of my personal data, as the potential transfer of my personal data to any of Accenture’s international affiliates, partners and sub processors (if such consent is required), as set forth in this Privacy Statement. You can at any point in time withdraw this consent by sending a simple email to dataprivacyofficer@accenture.com specifying this App.
