About Accenture Cargo advisory
Accenture Cargo Advisory is a practice area within the Travel unit in Accenture, and a leading advisor to the global air freight and broader transportation industry. The practice consists of ~40 team members globally and advises many of the world’s best performing airlines, shipping lines, integrators, forwarders, airports, leasing firms, etc. A dedicated data analytics team within the Cargo Advisory practice is responsible for providing leading industry databases and analytical tools to our clients, including comprehensive air and express cargo demand & supply databases, forecast and optimization tools. This Cargo Data Analytics team operates from offices in Europe and APAC and aims to provide industry leading market intelligence products and top-class customer service to continue our steep growth curve.
About the position
We are looking for an experienced Product Development Manager with Data/Analytics/Cargo background to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. The team's primary objective is processing diverse data sources and work on product development and R&D, crucial for generating our Market Intelligent products, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Additionally, there is another Cargo Model team dedicated to providing specialized support to a select clientele within the industry. This team assists clients in utilizing our in-house developed Cargo Model tool, aimed at optimizing airline cargo performance, network efficiency, and profitability.
As a Product Development Manager, you will lead and guide a team of data analysts and data engineers, helping with their day-to-day activities and promoting the practice's future growth. You will collaborate closely with the wider team and product managers in Amsterdam on project planning and the roadmap for the market intelligence products. Additionally, you will work alongside the PMO/scrum master in our KL office to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables. Responsibilities include assigning tasks to team members, coordinating support and training for clients, and facilitating the team's personal development through learning opportunities. Continuous improvement of team performance and product quality is emphasized, with the manager addressing bottlenecks as needed. You will cultivate an open work culture that encourages innovation and experimentation, inspiring team members to further develop themselves. You will work closely with other data analytics and consulting teams within the Cargo practice, and act as a member of the Cargo Data Analytics Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
Products & Innovation
- Safeguard a high-quality standard of the Accenture Cargo products and drive the adoption of innovative analytical and technical solutions to further develop the functionality, quality, and efficiency of the Market Intelligence Tools
- Supports the Project Manager to execute projects and programs; providing planning, resource coordination, and analytical support as needed
- Prioritize product development initiatives and manage timely delivery of priorities at high quality
Team development
- Manage continuous development and growth of the team
- Manages internal stakeholder expectations and provides regular updates
- Lead and effectively manage day-to-day activities of the team; meet targets under tight deadlines; and foster a collaborative team environment
- Guide, review and evaluate data and insights developed by team members to ensure accuracy, quality and relevance to industry and clients
- Guide teams on doing root cause analysis, identifying action plans and monitoring progress
- Evaluate projects and review performance of the team, provide constructive feedback
- Encourage and support career development and growth, provide and facilitate training opportunities
Qualifications
Desired Skills & Experience:
The ideal candidate has strong product development management experience in data, analytics and/or cargo domain, and people leadership experience managing a team of 10 to 20 data analysts and data engineers. We expect at least 6 years of relevant experience with hands-on in data, analytics and/or cargo product development across design, build, and testing lifecycle. We also expect at least 3 years of experience in leading a team with a proven track record of helping the team members to develop the valuable skills needed to excel in their roles. Experience in aviation, freight, logistics or supply chain industries is desirable and an understanding of industry / supply chain concepts is required to lead the team. We are looking for a culturally sensitive manager, experienced in bridging Asian and Western cultures with the ability to effectively lead a high performing team, and who is comfortable in providing the professional advisory to maintain relations with our clients in a fast paced and international environment.
A relevant degree in business, data, information, aviation, supply chain management or related discipline
6+ years of relevant experience with hands-on experience in data (ETL, data cleansing, data quality etc.), analytics (BI, AI/ML) and/or cargo projects across product design, product development and testing lifecycle
Strong experience in resource planning and ability to estimate the difficulty of technical tasks
3+ years of experience in leading a team, with a strong track record of helping the team members to develop the valuable skills needed to excel at their roles
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, resolve critical issues, and foster a collaborative team environment
Strong experience in resource planning and ability to estimate the difficulty of technical tasks
Strong (internal and external) stakeholder management skills, including ability to set achievable goals and create strategies to meet those goals
Experience working across various cultures and time zones. Particularly, working in both Asian and Western cultures, with ability to effectively lead a meritocratic team environment
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Strong analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
Affinity or experience with either aviation, freight and logistics, or supply chain is desirable
SQL and Python expertise, or previous experience is preferred
Experience with Azure, and/or Power BI is a plus
