Management Consulting Senior Manager (Energy - Upstream)

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform. You will be responsible for team decisions and will engage with multiple teams to contribute on key decisions. As part of this role, you will be expected to provide solutions to problems that apply across multiple teams.
You will design new business processes based on customer requirements, analyze current state and design new processes and solutions leveraging established methods, tools, and assets, implement programs and interventions that prepare the organization for change.
Key Responsibilities includes:
1. Business Development & Client Leadership
Originate, shape, and close Strategy & Consulting engagements with Energy clients across Southeast Asia.
Act as a senior client-facing leader, engaging independently with executive stakeholders to identify opportunities for value creation.
Develop compelling value narratives, business cases, and transformation roadmaps across the Oil & Gas value chain, with a strong focus on:
Upstream (Exploration, Development, Production, Asset Operations)
Midstream & Integrated Gas (LNG, gas processing, transportation, and commercialization)
Collaborate with account teams to build pipeline, respond to complex RFPs, and support large, multi-tower pursuits.
2. Strategy, Transformation & Digital Enablement :
Lead the design and execution of enterprise and functional strategies, including:
Upstream strategy and portfolio optimization
Asset and production optimization
Capital project strategy and value assurance
Asset Management and Maintenance Excellence
Operating model and organization design
Apply digital, data, AI, IoT, and OT-enabled solutions to unlock value across forecasting, reliability, maintenance, production efficiency, and decision-making.
Translate client business challenges into practical, scalable solutions leveraging established consulting frameworks, methods, and assets.
3. Delivery & Engagement Leadership
Serve as Delivery Lead for Energy Strategy & Consulting engagements, accountable for:
End-to-end project governance
Financial management (revenue, margin, risk)
Client satisfaction and outcomes
Lead and mentor consulting teams across multiple workstreams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and on-time execution.
Review and challenge analyses, ensure storyline coherence, and uphold consulting-quality standards.
Drive change management interventions that prepare client organizations for transformation and adoption.
4. Practice & People Development
Contribute to the growth of the Energy consulting practice through:
Thought leadership development
Capability building and asset creation
Coaching and mentoring of junior consultants and managers
Act as a role model for consulting excellence, collaboration, and ethical leadership.
Role Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Strong management consulting background, preferably with exposure to top-tier or global consulting firms.
Proven expertise in Upstream Oil & Gas operations and value chains, including:
Field operations and production systems
Oil & Gas supply chain and logistics
Gas and integrated hydrocarbon value chains
Demonstrated experience leading complex consulting engagements and managing senior client relationships.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional experience in consulting, energy industry roles, or a combination of both.
Preferred / Added Advantage
Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in:
Upstream Energy fundamentals
Upstream major capital projects (brownfield and greenfield)
Upstream and portfolio-level strategy
Experience applying digital transformation initiatives (data platforms, advanced analytics, AI/ML, IoT, OT systems) within Energy environments.
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of supporting or leading sales pursuits.
