I start my day planning my tasks, checking e-mails and scheduling meetings. Then, I might jump into a meet-up with a client to discuss pending items or solutions. After lunch, I catch up with my teams to talk about our next action items and identify and solve difficulties we’re facing. Most of my day is spent meeting multiple clients, focusing on how our solutions can help improve operations or deliver new value. If I need to talk to my project manager about updates or issues I need help on, I do so in the evening after completing my daily tasks.
As a member of the Data Science Centre of Excellence team, we frequently hold sharing sessions to enrich each other on emerging technologies in data science such as advanced analytics, deep learning and artificial intelligence. We’re a close-knit team so we also celebrate birthdays, milestones and achievements together.
A project I’m particularly proud of is when we developed a cutting-edge solution to help a client count the trees on its plantation. The program uses deep learning technology that looks at aerial photos and can be taught to identify trees and count them faster for improved accuracy. I was very excited to work on this project because my team and I pushed the boundaries on how to further leverage insights beyond the numbers.
I end my busy but rewarding day by spending time with my husband and my newly adopted Singapore Special dog, which is basically a mixed breed type. I often meet up with fellow dog owners and enjoy lots of fun cuddling with my furry buddy. I also spend my free time reading and staying away from electronics for some digital detox. Technology is a powerful tool that can change lives, but I also believe in taking better care of yourself by having a break from the digital world.
