I joined Accenture after graduating from a university in Japan. It was quite challenging to be the only Malaysian in my undergraduate studies. I had to overcome cultural and language barriers to connect with people. It took me years of hard work to learn Nihongo. As the Japanese say,
“七転び八起き (nana korobi, ya oki)” or fall seven times, stand up eight. I never gave up and always did my best. Through my perseverance, I am where I am today.
My first project at Accenture was related to android platforms. Though I had a background in business development, I gained new knowledge through self-learning, improving both my soft and hard skills. In my current project, I was initially assigned to be a content reviewer. But with hard work, I was able to take the lead role in a short span of time.
Now, I’m leading a team that operates our client’s android platform in the Japanese market. In my work, staying updated on process changes, particularly those that involve our client’s policies, is a must. Though our work can be challenging, the support of our leads and our good relationship with the client pushes us to go beyond expectations.
